Happy new year to all. Whilst a few FA glory the league returns this week after a 3 week absence.
Div 1
BS XI v Hillfields - I expect BS XI to bounce back from their defeat against us just before Christmas (any excuse to mention it!) and win comfortably.
Slip v SAS - Slip will be match hardened after their friendly with us on Monday and it remains to be seen whether the SAS lads have been enjoying too much Christmas festivities and band playing over the break. If SAS fail to win here I think we can write off their chances of winning the league but a win for SAS will keep 5 teams interested. Slip have a new resolve this year and are hard to beat so I'm going for a narrow home win, maybe 2-1.
Thornbury v Kensington - the Christmas break came at a bad time for TBC who were positively charging up the table in December. However, Chris will have had his troops well drilled over the break and I can see the unbeaten run continuing with a win over Kensington who are still struggling.
Div 2
Corinthians v Rock - home win Nailsea v Welton - 2 of the more fancied sides in Div 2 are struggling at the wrong end of the table. Home win to the brick for me.
Div 3
Carmel v Hayhill - away win Grace v Hillfields - home win Hartcliffe v Racing - away win Oasis v Suburbs - game of the day for the table toppers, home win
Good luck to Pips in the Intermediate and to Castle Green and Santos who play each other in the primary (my tip is Santos to win) and to my lads in the minor cup. Lets hope the GFA games go ahead this week so there is no further disruption to next week's fixtures. And lets hope that there is BCFA representation in all 3 cups for the semis!!

I'm tempted to predict a washout this week. Any more significant rainfall and I think that will definitely be the case, but if today and tomorrow can stay dry, we might just get to play. We currently have some rain forecast for Friday evening though.... BSXI v Hillfields - I seem to recall Hillfields putting up some good fights against BSXI in the past, so this one might be closer than most people think, but I still pick BSXI to win by a couple of goals. Slip v SAS - for once, I'm going to say we look like we have nearly everyone available. SAS play some excellent football though, so we know we're in for a tough game and will have to be at our best. Thornbury v Kensington - as Eakes said, TBC were on a good run prior to the winter break. I don't think Kensington have been hammered by anyone though, despite struggling for players, so I'll pick a narrow Thornbury win by a single goal. Corinthians v Rock - draw Nailsea v Welton - I do like Welton, so I'm going to back them for a win, and a much better 2nd half of the season. Carmel v Hayhill - away win Grace v Hillfields - home win Hartcliffe v Racing - home win Oasis v Suburbs - could go either way, but I'll pick Oasis too. Only BCFA team to beat BSXI 4 times since 12th December 2009.....

It rained most of the night in the Bath area and at times quite heavy, does look dodgy with more rain due tomorrow. One things is certain for games that go ahead it will be windy and the pitches heavy so there will be some aching leg muscles after the games.

Sounds like Weltons optimum playing conditions, fingers crossed for game on. Think Ian will vouch for that after we played them at our place on a mudheap. The only time you run out of chances is when you stop taking them.

Please spare a thought for us if it is windy we are playing on the Downs, nice and exposed plus dodgy pitches to boot. Doesn't really suit our game and could be a leveller!!!

I predict we have little chance in tomorrow's big cup tie... ...but I'll still be at the Mem in the hope of some cup magic! Green Army!"You don't stop playing football because you get old, you get old because you stop playing football"Mangotsfield and Castle Green URC

We are definitely on. The Downs has a reduced fixture list but the GFA games are unaffected. Hopefully that means we get one of the better pitches up there. Whatever though it's gonna be a battle up there!!
