At Mangotsfield and Castle Green URC we have a carol service with candles on Christmas Eve at 6.00pm Nice family service and definitely one for the kids both young and not so young! Everyone welcome. Sets you up nicely for Christmas at a time when all the shopping is over, your house is decked up and the pressies are all wrapped and under your tree. Christmas Eve, especially the evening is my favourite day of the Christmas period. Everything has been done, enjoy a good carol service, then feet up in front of the fire with a few drinks, mince pies, Quality Street and a damn good Christmas film! Slip have a kids carol service this Saturday, the 17th @ 3pm I think. Then we do a double carol service on Sunday 18th, one at 4pm, the other at 7pm, both services identical. GertMint and myself were practicing last night, and it was sounding rocking. Now just need to try and get away with playing that loudly on the day......... Only BCFA team to beat BSXI 4 times since 12th December 2009.....

Woodies are having our carol services this Sunday night - at 5pm and 7.30pm. We had an alternative Carols by Laserlight a week or so ago when the Bristol Bishop came and spoke. Really good. The Woodies football team have the following schedule this Sunday:
4pm Watch first half of Man City v Arsenal at the Hill Pub 5pm Woodies Carol service 7pm Post carol service curry
Good times.

Chris, you can tell Stephen he has my every sympathy. Carols are a nightmare on the guitar. Thankfully, Chris Tomlin did an excellent Christmas album last year where he guitarised several carols and we're doing a couple of those. Much easier. Eakes, good time unless you're a Man City or Arsenal fan and have to miss the 2nd half......... Only BCFA team to beat BSXI 4 times since 12th December 2009.....

Some church/hymn music is best played with a guitar, bass, drums, keyboard band, while some are better on a good old fashioned church organ. Carols? Church organ is best most of the time, or better still the Salvation Army brass band!
