Amazing win. Finally someone else has beaten them! And they are even complimenting the referee!
Congratulations to Woodies.

4-1 actually Mark as we conceded in the last 2 minutes after I came on !! Didn't touch the ball in those two minutes but still got blamed for the goal ! Was played in a decent spirit today and we edged the first half and were 2-0 up through good goals from Si Rothers and a wonder goal from Ben Mitchell which gave the keeper no chance in the top corner from 25 yards out. 2nd half BS XI came back into it but when the 3rd goal came from sub Joey Mitchell it was game over. BS XI got a deserved consolation in the last couple of minutes as the gaffer adjusted to centre midfield!!! BS XI were graacious in defeat and that win has thrown the title race wide open.

Hillfields 5 - Grace Church 2 (Shield)

Enjoyable game in a bit of a mudbath of a pitch (Sorry! Nothing personal Whistle ) 3-1 to Hillfields at half time, we pulled it back to 3-2, then put them under pressure in the second half and could easily have snatched one. Got caught pushing players upfield at the end and Hillfields scored two on the break. Well played all

Widcombe 1 Thornbury Baptist Church 1

A very tight game which could have gone either. We scored on 6 minutes when Cookie cut in from the left and scored, I thought we would comfortably win as we were playing some great football. Widcombe started to impose themselves towards as the first half went on and they got better as the game went on.

They deservedly equalised around the hour mark and with two minutes left they had a one on one which should really have been put away but was smashed against the underside of the bar. We were happy to come away with a point after this scare right at the end.

Another example of what sets this League apart. We had a cross tipped out by the Widcombe keeper towards the end of the game. It wasn't obvious this had happened, the ref gave the goal kick, yet the keeper corrected the ref and we were awarded the corner. A class act by the keeper, and Widcombe's conduct on the pitch was the best I've encountered this season. Well done Widcombe.

Rock 2-3 Castle Green

Relieved to get this one played today after last nights plunge in temperatures, but Badminton held up well.

Good hard game against Rock as always. Spirited fight back from them at the end and the final whistle was music to our ears. Having said that, we should have had this one out of sight.

3 cracking goals from Dan Powell, The Dog is back on form!

An enjoyable game played in a good spirit. Pistols pushed us all the way. It was good to get back to winning ways after a disappointing defeat last week.

Woodies 4 - 1 BSXI

Sad times Boo hoo! , beaten by a very impressive Woodies team, they played good football and battled us out of it. Some very good young players and a mix of more experienced players. We were never at the races and struggled to come to grips with both the oppositions formation and the slippy pitch. Fair play to Woodies, they scored a couple of belters first half and even coerced Tim to belt one into his own top corner to finish it off !

On a personal note I was gutted to finish my time in BCFA action with a defeat like that (am moving to Belfast @ Xmas Crying ). but would like to say a massive thanks to everyone involved with the league, both at BSXI and opponents, who have made my time in the league so enjoyable and memorable. It has been a pleasure to be involved a league that has such a great feeling of community and sportsmanship.

Cheers Folks,

Andy.

Andy, all the best, if it's any consolation we decided that you were our oppo man of the match. All the best with the move.

VCF Santos 1 - 0 Bristol sports United

Great attitude from the lads today as our opposition were amongst one of the worst i have come across in my time playing in Bristol. If they had of focused more of their efforts on playing football they may have caused us more problems. We took the lead in the first 10 minutes, jack Medley followed in a free kick that came of the goal keeper and between him and Hugo we scored. Bristol sports reponded well and hit the cross bar but that was the end of their intentions of trying to play football.

The 2nd half was not much of a football match as the oppo wanted to break a leg with every tackle. Ewan got head butted and punched in front of the ref who bottled it and give them a free kick for decent. Then Robbo got taken late with a high challenge which opened the bridge of his nose and he has a lovely bump on his head to go with it. I'm probably describing a saturday night in town rather than a football match! However lovely to be in the quarters and we are looking forward to the draw.

Good win for Woodies today whose side has a nice balance. We started well enough but couldn't find another gear as woodies hit two great strikes. We battled away but never really threatened with any consistency. Wide open now, still think any one of 5 can win it. Merry Xmas all.

Kensington 1 v 2 Christchurch

Bitterly disappointed today. We were let down by two players this morning so played the whole match with 10 men again! we started better and opened the scoring through John C (who was class throughout). CC equalised with a very good free kick from outside the box. The key though was the 2nd half, we dominated won a penalty, then missed a penalty. CC then won a soft penalty (not questionaing the decision) which was poor from our point of view. CC showed us how it (penalty) was done. CC were there for the taking today but with 10 men we just didn't have enough. Need to re group over Christmas or will be certain to go down.

It was clear from the first 15mins that this game would be won by a scrappy goal and that proved to be true. After 30mins we scored from a cross/shot that hit a defender a managed to cross the line. Although. We managed to easily control the first half its fair to say that Nailsea totally dominated the second but we kept our shape and composure to seal another win and clean sheet.

I don't know if it was the same guy, but the same thing happened in our game whilst I was reffing. I gave a goal kick, but he then said he'd got a faint touch on it.
Only BCFA team to beat BSXI 4 times since 12th December 2009.....

Sounds more like the keeper is trying to highlight that he has made a save Wink
