Joe Allen

Boys played well today BSXI just had a bit more quality when counted.
Has seen 4 lads through his team become Christians in the last 18 months or so - How awesome is that?

Pip n Jay 2 Woodies 6, probably our best game of the season so far. First 20 mins we dominated so much that pips hardly had a sniff (hope that isn't disrespectful to pips but I just thought we were really good). Scored goals in the first half through Ben, Ieu, Sarge and then a debut goal from Jack and Pips replied with a penalty from Ali and a header from Brian off a corner that was never a corner Wink. 4-2 at half time. Pips started 2nd half brightly and had a lot of the play and a few chances but Ash made a couple of great saves and when Ieu got his 2nd to make it 5-2 it was pretty much game over. Pips carried on playing and Wes was unlcuky with a free kick to hit the bar but Ben Mitch rounded of a great performance with his 2nd. Late on Andy B was put through on goal and was set to celebrate his 150th BCFA goal but was denied by the keeper. All round we were very good today and the only down side was an injury to Peachy who jarred his leg under a challenge when someone fell on him (thankfully not Brian!).

VCF Santos 3 - 0 Castle Green

A good contest today the football may not have been the prettiest but it was certainly competitive. We were 2-0 up at half time, our first was an OG and the 2nd was a great move and finish from Twanny. Second Half CG started brightly and applied some pressure but when Twanny got his 2nd to make it 3-0 the game was pretty much in the bag. CG never gave up and perhaps on another day a couple of their chances could of ended up in the onion bag. Nevertheless a solid performance from us.

A break from the league next week and we are looking forward to keeping our GFA cup run going.

Kensington 0-1 'Slip

Another clean sheet and another 3 points. Should have been 1 up early on, Nath's shot hit the bar, then the goaline, then bounced up and hit the top of the net and then bounced out. Ref didn't have a good enough angle to see it hit the net (everyone else did). Hit the post from a free kick too.

Second half we scored from a corner, Spring at the back post tapping in from a James Cook flick. Millar was then brought down inside the box but the ref said outside so it was a free kick. Again, he didn't have a good enough angle from where he was. I was on the edge of the box and it was a good yard inside. Never mind.

Kensington got a few clear sights on goal but couldn't really hit the target. We missed some good chances, Spring being the main culprit. Their keeper also pulled off some good saves.

Pleased to win anyway.
Congratulations to Woodies.

Tough game as always, pleased to beat Hayhill finally at the fifth attempt! After going 1-0 down, really pleased at our spirit to pull it round. Still could have gone either way, as we went 2-1, 3-2 and finally 4-3 up, every time they pulled it level. Pretty much a last minute goal won it for us.

I can't really argue with that Johnny. A tough, physical contest indeed, but that was expected. Interesting though that both sides did great jobs to shut out the opposition strikers, I was really pleased with the job our back line did on Dave and Jack and equally impressed with your back line.

Being a card carrying member of the centre back's union, Hugo gets the MVP.

Disappointed of course with the result, but the game is all about hitting the back of the net. You did and we didn't, end of.

We will look forward to the return fixture. Well done today.

p.s. I didn't realise your 1st was an og?

I don't think anyone expected this one! We were excellent going forward, taking our chances, whilst Christchurch had one of those games where their luck totally ran out, hitting the woodwork twice and missing some good chances despite some good passing football and the constant threat of Alex Bakker. Young Joe Maiden was outstanding in the first half earning a penalty and scoring a peach of a goal.

Goals from Joe Maiden, Mark Beale (penalty), James Cooke(2), and an incredible 2 goals for 'Boro lad Phil Loadwick on his 100th appearance for the club sealed the win.

An absolutely huge win for us as we pull away from the relegation zone. Interesting results today - Castle Green losing 3-0 in Div 2 and Pip n Jay losing to Woodies. Woodies are the dark horses in Div 1 this year yet 'Slip march on and on. I'm still annoyed we didn't beat them in the first game of the season!

Good to see TBCFC old boy Twanny still doing the business despite spoiling the day for his old Manager Monsieur Chapelle!

Main reason for our success so far this season? A Gaffer who does just give a nod to football cliche in his matrch report, but runs up to it and gives it a big snog with tongues.

Have to say, I didn't think our first was an OG either, and I think I was pretty close.

BUCU 4 - 2 Gordano

A great performance from the lads today in a game where we dominated possession and could have had 3 or 4 more. Gordano are a useful outfit with nippy forwards and some good one touch play in midfield. They scored 2 cracking goals too, including one that broke the net! It's unusual for us to play a team that are (or at least appear) younger and smaller than us and we faced a different sort of challenge this morning to the games against teams with more 'experienced' members!

On the whole a good game of football with our goals coming from Jeremy Young, Nick Hough, Jonny Stanley and Alex Wilkins.

Gonna say he can't have been that close otherwise he would have claimed it.

SAS 2-1 Widcombe

Goals from Woody & Sincs

Ugly game on an ugly pitch. Not often anyone gets to see SAS battle like we did today. Missing about 6 regulars so we knew we'd probably go about things a bit differently. Lovely goals from us - 20 yarder from Woody on his first game for us in a few seasons. Widcombe levelled up on about 70mins, but within a few minutes of that Sinclair hit a beautiful volley from a very tight angle that surely Van Basten would've been proud of!
The last 15 mins were fairly hectic, we certainly didn't display much in the way of composure, but we were very happy to come away with the points.

Have to mention we were 1-0 up a couple of minutes before half time when the ref awarded Hillfields a goal kick.Their linesman pointed out it was a corner as did their team. Sods law we scored from it but Hillfields attitude was brilliant as it was the worst time to concede a second.Much respect from BSXI.

A really good game that was 1-0 until the 80th minute. Both teams seem to be better than their league position shows but we are both suffering from player availability. Nice to have a clean sheet.

Good summary Eako, we were below par yesterday and thoroughly disappointed, not to take anything away from the mighty Woodies who did play some good stuff with neat passing in midfield. Some sloppy and lax defending cost us the opening two goals (1st - slow to react to a quick throw-in and 2nd - a free hreader from Sarge from a corner). But nobody could argue with Woodies 3rd, a sublime curling volley into the top corner from little Jack (full back), brilliant goal.

We did come back into it at 2-0 with Brian powering a header past Ash from a corner but the 3rd goal stifled our ambitions. We were a bit slow and off the pace and allowed them too much space to play. Going into the 2nd half was tricky but whoever scored the next goal obviously had momentum to kick on and win the match. Ieu grabbed it after we failed to clear our lines properly. Hope big Peachy is ok, he can add it to the long list of injuries picked up against Pips, as Eako mentioned just a good job Brian wasn't the culprit!

Always enjoyable and a pleasure to play against the old rivals though (even if I was angry and disappointed we lost and missing Kendo). 2012 is looking interesting for the top half of Div 1 with all of the us in with a shout of clinching the title if results like yersterday keep occuring. Wink

Roll on GFA and Stoke Rangers.

Good result for us in the end yesterday, although disappointed it wasn't a bit more in the end. As Dan said, we thought we'd taken the lead early on when my shot went off keeper, bar bounced down and then up hitting the net before coming out again and being cleared. Ref didn't give it - perhaps divine retribution for me claiming the goal last week? Overall, Kensington were the better side first half, but I think they should review their tactic of shooting wide when well positioned. Despite that, we still hit the post and Dan could possibly have done better when given a decent chance (I expected him to hit the target anyway).

Second half, we changed a couple of things and generally played much better. There was the "penalty", and I was starting to wonder if it was going to be one of those days at that point. Fortunately not as Cookie produced a Zola-esque flick from a corner that Spring turned in. We had quite a few chances to extend the league, with Spring saying afterwards he thinks he's the best player in the league at getting into good positions, but the worst player in the league at finishing them off - he could easily have had 5 yesterday. Kensington got back into it a bit towards the end and we had a couple of nervy moments, but held on.

Glad we're not playing at Packers again, as it seems to be a bit of an injury curse for us....
Only BCFA team to beat BSXI 4 times since 12th December 2009.....

Can't see past BSXI for the league, just don't see who they'll drop points against. Would be absolutely delighted with 2nd though.
Congratulations to Woodies.

Bit arrogant to suggest Slip are the only side capable of beating them Wink I would agree though that they are favourites. At the start of the season I didn't believe we were capable of winning the league but I'm starting to rethink....
