Pistols v woodies is an away win walkover, they couldn't raise a side. We are playing hillfields reserves in a friendly.
Pips v Christchurch is the pick of the cup games closely followed by CG v Slip.

Pips v Christchurch is the pick of the cup games closely followed by CG v Slip. What has happened to Hillfields Res v Thornbury? Sorry, I got our friendly oppo wrong as Hillfields reserves are still playing TBC, Hillfields v Grace has been postponed. However, I think from memory that Hillfields messed up their opening cup game when their reserves played as their first team and vica versa so I think actually the friendly we are playing this weekend is actually made up of their reserves !!! Confused? I certainly am.....

I didn't realise we had thrown our game v Woodies, when I spoke to Mark eariler in the week, he said we were looking for a rearrangement. It's a guest supported breakfast at the Church that everyone is attending Just completed my 21st consecutive BCFA season!

However there was no master plan in doing it, our cup prelim (reserves) with Hayhill was postponed and it was Joes daughters birthday on that date plus a few firsts were missing so to avoid another postponed game or give a walkover I said I would do the game for joe using the reserves. Little did we know the headache that would ensue afterwards and ever since. Subsequently the reserves lost 8-1 to Santos and the firsts 2-1 to Hayhill. The problem is, that you become cup tied so that I'd why we have to switch it round. Also means if only one of us in knocked out the other cannot play a league game on same day as next round. You can be assured this is not gonna happen next season Has seen 4 lads through his team become Christians in the last 18 months or so - How awesome is that?

CG have a full squad (or did when Ian posted last Saturday), we currently have a bare 11 with me sweating on a couple of injuries and one availability to be confirmed (or otherwise) tomorrow morning. If all 3 of those come through, then we'll look pretty good, but not sure the chances of that are great. One player missing who we're not really able to replace, but I'd still like to think we'll be difficult to beat. Of the other games, I'd pick Pips, BSXI, Santos, Kensington, SAS and BUCU to win. I think the OCR game is the only possible upset other than our game, but think Nailsea will just about edge it. Only BCFA team to beat BSXI 4 times since 12th December 2009.....

Mark and Andy mentioned that they thought it was a spare weekend with no fixtures but it was always in Ben's spreadsheet of cup ties.

Slip to win for me. Think that gap between div 1 and 2 is still there. You only need to look at TBC and Kensington this season to see they are at the wro g end of the table and gonna find it tough this season. And Ian we all k is Nath and Slip love the underdog tag!!!

Absolutely, slip are the clear favourites and we are more than happy with the underdog tag. Heard their poor us excuses and stories at the last league meeting, woe is us and how will we survive this season and we all fell for Nathan's bleatings and sob stories. Three months in and now look at them. Talk about cry wolf!! You can be assured this is not gonna happen next season Not impressed at all by this. We are supposed to be playing the Reserves. Just to be clear, Hillfields is ran simply to reach young men for Jesus, there is no other motive, plan or point to the reason we run it, we hope our attitude on the pitch is a good one and represents God and our church in a positive way and our aim is that through this awesome tool Football, we will be able to see these lads come into the kingdom of God. I hope that over the past seasons we have shown this attitude and even better actually seen this happen. Please understand that neither of our teams are setup to focus on results first (we really dont care), we will face whoever we have to and against whatever players are thrown at us, I will never question the other managers choice of team, I can only assume whatever team the opposition manager has picked it is for the good of the team and fits into the ministry they have setup for their club. We have two teams but it is very important all the lads involved feel they are part of one club and that they have an input in to what is being built in Hillfields so we are going to do whatever we can to make that work ensuring we stay within the rules of the league (which we have). Please also understand that for us this is a new thing, mistake will be made as we adjust and get used to the extra responsibilty, so some grace would be nice as we work through these things. We have made a mistake it is an error (not done purposely) but I hope in a Christian league we could excercise some Grace and understanding and just get on with it. Chris - I know you have not questioned our motives or anything anywhere near that and I am genuinely sorry that you feel let down as I know you wanted to play some fringe players so this is not aimed at you or anyone in particular, I just feel that over this season I have personally felt questioned as to why we run the two teams and need to just make it clear as to the actual point of our club. Hopefully come the next round both Hillfields teams will be knocked out and we can rest easy for another season. Rant over - sorry Has seen 4 lads through his team become Christians in the last 18 months or so - How awesome is that?

I'm just impressed that Chris understood your previous post Crofty, cos I was lost. I don't think anyone would question your motives, and your results off the pitch speak for that. Only BCFA team to beat BSXI 4 times since 12th December 2009.....

Yeah I echo what Nath has said but I can imagine that it does change your team potentially if you thought you were playing a Div 3 side rather than a Div 1 side. In some ways its probably a good thing that it was raised on here as if you turned up on Saturday and that was the first TBC had heard of it then there could have been a few more problems.
