Am up in Manchester for 3 days and saw a headline in the manchester evening news saying 'Horrer attack on Ref' so took a look. The ref sent a player off for Foul and abusive language, the player pushed the ref to the ground and kicked him in the head knocking the ref unconcious. and cutting his eye so badly that he needed 6 stitches. I have seen the picture of the ref and the damage is awful, a fraction of an inch lower and he could well have been blinded, he had to spend some time in hospital. The ref is 21 years old.
I know we never get every decision right much as we would like but we do try our best. I have said before that it is not nice being assualted and it has happened to me and no JP I am not refering to that 'tackle'. the assualt on me was minor compared to what I have just mentioned but it did make me think about carrying on or not, but carry on I did. Just wanted to get my next game over with which happened to be PNJ and Hayhill. I was almost in tears at the end of the game as I was just glad to get through it.
thanks
Christopher
