Hillfields res 1 v OCR 1 We took lead with 3 mins to go and they scored a pen with last kick of the game. Christchurch 1 v Hillfields 4 (good win) Has seen 4 lads through his team become Christians in the last 18 months or so - How awesome is that?

Great win for your first team Rich. Woodies 4 Rock 1 in the Shield. Their keeper had a great game and kept them in it. Goals from Ben Mitchell (2), Joey Mitchell and Mike Sargeant.
I'll leave the Slip lads to reveal their result (although the fact that Marc Tickner hasn't been on here with the result yet might give you a hint...)

Welton Rangers 2 v 1 Bristol Pistols
Happy Days are here again!
A victory and one that required hard graft, discipline and concentration, which is exactly what we needed to prove we were capable of.
A very evenly matched first half. We went 1-0 down mid-way through the second from a very good Pistols finish, but equalised within a minute, with a header from Craig Maidment, from one of Andy Coombs' ever dangerous corners. About ten minutes later we got our first bit of luck of the season, with a speculative Andy Coombs shot hitting the head of a Pistols defender, completely wrong-footing their keeper and looping into the net.
A tight match, indeed, but I had to take a turn in goal again and (thankfully) didn't have a proper save to make, so I think we deserved the 3 points.
Really hopeful this is something we can build on!

Kensington 5 v 1 Widcombe
No one expected that result!! Partly because the game was only arranged last night after Carmel failed to get a team together to play us in the cup. Great credit to Widcombe for assembling their side at short notice. That gives us two wins in a day, not a bad effort. I thought we fully deserved the result - goals from Phil Bx2, John, Jem and the gaffer.

Nailsea 8 - 0 Bath Corinthians
Bath only had a bear 11 with no first team keeper and we know how annoying that can be, we havent had a keeper for most the season also.
Good game from Nailsea.

BUCU 3-1 Castle Green Today the run fell apart and we looked a shadow of ourselves against a lively and impressive BUCU side who on this showing will be one to watch again this season. We came undone early on giving BUCU too much space in the box going 1 down. Then Glenn Cook sent a looping header over our keeper into the net form a cross and at half time we were 2 down, but no complaints because BUCU deserved it, they had the better territory and played the better football. In the second half we showed a bit better and got on top until Mike Gibbs had our keeper well beaten from 20 yards out! 3 down. George Malyckyj pulled one back with a fantastic volley, we rallied but couldn't get past BUCU's excellent defence. Two own goals and we were never going to get away with a below par performance with BUCU playing like they did and us helping their cause! Well done to BUCU, return fixture in 2 weeks time. Powerhouse 5 Gordano 3 A good game of football assisted by swirling wind and a slow sunrise. The wind and sun helped our keeper get his first goal from a goal kick! We knew that with our full squad available we would be a tough opposition for most teams, we showed this today. In the first half we scored against the run of play but used the speed of our striker and the wind to our advantage.in the second half, against the wind,we actually played better football and put Gordano under a lot of pressure without getting the goal we deserved.Gordano got it back to 3-2 before we managed to turn our pressure in to goals. Thornbury Baptist Church 2 Pip n Jay 3
The best team won but I'm disappointed we didn't hang on to a point. Pips took an early lead, just like last week and played us off the park in stages. They went in 2-0 up at half time and we were struggling. Baps played better in the second half, matching Pips' flowing football with our effort and determination. We pulled one back on the hour with Joe Maiden scoring and then Joe made it 2-2 with about 15 mins left, two fine finishes using his pace to get behind the defence.
I really thought we could hang on to a point but with about 6 minutes left we switched off at a corner and it cost us dearly. It would have been harsh if Pips had not won but we at least gave them a scare and made them work for their victory.
Congrats to Welton on their first victory in Div 2 and with Kensington and Hillfields winning I think we're now bottom of the league. The only way is up. And, er, SAS, well ......commiserations to Hartcliffe.

Incident packed game for us yesterday. BSXI started in a 4-5-1 and had us under pressure early on, not helped by some below-par clearances from us. They hadn't really created a clear-cut chance (but were getting close), but then a defender suffered a rush of blood to the head and put in a wild challenge on Dan. BSXI thought it should have been a yellow, and I was expecting to see yellow as I think refs often tend to give players the benefit of the doubt. However, I don't think the player can really argue with the red that was shown. That obviously changed the game and made things easier for us as BSXI went 4-4-1. They were still in the game, but we started playing much better and Dan almost scored right on half time, his shot going narrowly wide after beating the on-rushing keeper. About 10 minutes into the second half Dan did score. Spring then forced a hat-trick of saves from the BSXI keeper, one of which was outstanding with half our team already celebrating. We couldn't get the second goal though, which always left BSXI the chance of getting back into it and they came close once or twice, with Powelly having to make a very good improvised save at one point. Overall, I think we deserved the points having had more decent chances, although they only came after the red card, and had BSXI kapt 11 men on the pitch, I think it would probably have been a very different result. Only BCFA team to beat BSXI 4 times since 12th December 2009.....

We are nowhere near title favourites. BSXI and Pips are bigger favourites IMO. Slip the team to beat! Well, we are at the moment as we're top, but I still think BSXI will finish ahead of us in the league. Win their game in hand, and they'll be 2 points behind us. There's no way I can see us maintaining that gap over the remainder of the season. BSXI have now played their bogey team twice, and I don't see them dropping many more points this season. We always struggle against SAS who we have to play twice, and we'll drop points against teams we'd be expected to beat, guaranteed. BSXI just don't really do that. I also think Pips will challenge. They have excellent attacking options that will cause everyone problems, whereas the one thing we don't really have is an out-and-out striker. Maybe Woodies could lend us one? And I wouldn't count out SAS yet. I don't think they will ultimately be consistent enough to win it (like us), but I'm not ruling them out yet. Only BCFA team to beat BSXI 4 times since 12th December 2009.....
