BSXI 6 - 1 SAS

Beaten by the better team today. We had the best of the first half with BSXI coming into the match as the first half progressed. HT BSXI 0 - 1 SAS. BSXI got a goal within a few minutes of the restart and didn't stop scoring for the rest of the game! We made it waaaaaay too easy for them in the second half and we got what we deserved! Back to the drawing board...

Castle Green 3-1 Nailsea

A game that both sides will look back on today feeling that they weren't at their best, fair to say neither side were on form or "quite flying", but then again we both had players missing and players filling in out of position. The 2 league games later in the season will be good contests.

Nailsea drew first blood, poor marking job and I think it was Kev Carr who pounced on a loose ball in our box to smash it home. We took a good 30 mins to get going and when we did finally get it down and start passing, we pulled off a neat move to get into their box with Brad Tucker showing off some tidy foot work to beat Nailsea keeper Joe Sharples.

Second half, the game seemed to open up more and both sides played better football. George Malyckyj put us 2-1 up with a long range volleyed lob from 30 odd yards out. Then with about 15 mins to go, Dan Powell pounced on a defensive mix up in the Nailsea box to tuck away number 3.

Over all though, I was pleased with the lads who stepped up into positions at short notice, I think it's possibly fair to say we were just about worth the win and it's nice to be in the 2nd round of the BCFA Cup for the first time in this club's history.

Santos 6 - 1 Corinthians

Corinthians had 11 and no subs and we had a good team out today. We played well in patches and obviously did enough. It's nice to make it through to the next round. looking forward to seeing the remaining results.

Reserves still searching for a win or draw but good effort today
Has seen 4 lads through his team become Christians in the last 18 months or so - How awesome is that?

Pip n Jay 7 Woodies 2. Wasn't there so no idea what went wrong but I'm guessing it was all Ken's fault. I'll be getting Woodies to be organising his P45 soon....

Good game by us but still ended up with another 2 players having to come off injured - story of our season at the moment. Both our goals were scored by Dan Ball who is really showing good form at the moment.

Suburbs 0-2 'Slip

We definitey deserved the win. We had loads of shots but most off target. Suburbs played well but only forced one save and didn't really create anything else.

Goals:

Flynn x2
Congratulations to Woodies.

A good win for us today. Had a nice balance to the team and despite going behind the belief was apparent that we could win the game. Once Pat opened his account we kicked on nicely including a lovely 40 yard free-kick from Chris Stout that flew in over Nathan's head. Pleased with Levi's effort, who seems to grow in stature with each game.

I can safely predict that we will be drawn vs slip in the next round....

Pips 7-2 Woodlands (HT 3-1)

Goals from Ken, Wes (3), Brain, Jacob & one other!?
I took over as ref for the 1st half as there was
a mix up - he made an appearance for the 2nd half.
Woodies scored from kick off with a fine goal following
poor defending from us. 1-0. We started getting into our stride
after this kick up the rear. I awarded a pen after Peachy bought
down a marauding Ken, Wes tucked the spot kick away - 1-1. Jacob
& Ken scored before HT. Further goals from Wes et al
Woodies still created & had a few one-on-ones but wasted them, this was
a key difference, whereas Pips were more clinical.
A great win to progress to the 2nd round, roll on Thornbury in league action.

Goals from Matt Lacey and Luke Tucker.

So that leaves the following in the cup quarter-finals:

Pip'n'Jay
Counterslip
Kensington/Christchurch

Div 2
Welton Rangers
Powerhouse
VCF Santos
Castle Green

It's a pretty tasty quarter-final line up. Can't say I fancy taking on many of those teams. I do have a feeling that Jim may be right with his prediction.....
Only BCFA team to beat BSXI 4 times since 12th December 2009.....

I'm not bothered who we get, but I think my lads just may fancy a rematch after that Shield Final
