Looks like we have a home draw v Old Sodbury Res. I hope it proves to be an easier one than last Sat!

Another flipping home draw, this is going to bankrupt us. Made forever Reserves in Div 4 of B&D are currently 0 from 4. Real Thornbury at 5 from 5 look like the strong team from the B&D as TBC found out.

No churches teams playing each other, great!

Tough game for Castle Green. Old Sodbury being in premier combination which is 1 higher than district senior. Reffed them a couple of weeks back, weren't brilliant but will still be a hard test for Ian's boys.

Also Powerhouse v Sourh Bristol Central - very rough team if I remember rightly.
Congratulations to Woodies.

Looks like Old Sodbury are D6 of the District League and not doing great, in fact their win on the weekend was a bit out on sync with their league form.

Notice their 1st are Prem Combination so maybe a few dropped down that day?

...and it seems that Old Sodbury 1sts were awarded a walk over in the GFA Senior Amateur last Sat, so maybe this could be close to the truth?

Fortunately, the 1st team have a game on 29/10! Wink

Tell me about it Eako! We are in dire straits (no, not the legendary ageing rocker) following last season's GFA cup success. Almost every single match (apart from the 1st Rd) we were drawn at home!

Eakes, as Ian has already pointed out, if you can't have your pitch, the game moves to the away team's pitch by default, they become the home team and have to pay the bills. Simples.

Actually it's sometimes not so straight forward particularly if the opposition club has more than one team and alternated pitch sharing within their club.

Also I sense some clubs are getting wise to the cup ruling to switch, don't want the cost being passed on and declare their pitch unavailable as well. Then it's back to square one and finding another pitch. I think this was Woodies problem last weekend.

In some Counties, though obviously not Glous, if a game is switched to the away Clubs ground because on the non availability of the home Clubs pitch, the nominated home club would still be responsible for the costs.

I go along with Dan and Ian on this. If I remember correctly at least one league I was on in London the costs were split for Cup games.

How about the option of having an unavailable home pitch, but offering to halve the pitch costs at their ground as a gesture of goodwill? Would be cheaper and more likely to get an agreement with the opposition than a blanket no...?

Actually I offered that last season to St Pancras and they turned the money down but still used their pitch!
