As I am Twitter-less and our resident Twitter-er was unable to play last night due to a strain, I am left to announce the result the old fashioned way:
Powerhouse 0 (0) - (0) 3 - VCF Santos
A good performance from VCF saw us minimising Powerhouse's chances through solid defending, we missed a penalty in the first half but had a few chances and went into the second half feeling that we just needed to continue in the same vein. Second half goals came from Jack K, Jack W and the first (and only) touch of the game from Jonny M coming on as a sub in the last minute gave us a win.

VCF thoroughly deserved this result and 3-0 actually flattered us! Our pitch was a joke, as all the promises given to me in pre season about fixing nets, posts etc never materialised. I think we will end up moving back to Rose Green. Anyway, VCF have a great bunch of lads and i look forward to giving them more of a challenge next time. One unfortunate event was a booking for a new player due to bad language directed at his team mate. He apologised straight away, which shows his character and that the guys know what is expected. Ok so its not a result from the 5th Sep but for one game I couldn't be bothered to start a new thread. Tonight in the BCFA Cup preliminary TBC and Woodies battled it out. Final score was 5-5 then we won on penalties 4-2 after Ash saved and then a TBC player blasted over. We started shockingly going 3-0 down after about 15 minutes, TBC's aerial threat very much to the fore and we defended against it badly. Got one back from a neat header from Ieu off a corner and got a second back before half time from Ieu and it was 3-2 at half time and we were starting to come back into the game. Second half we started really well and got into the game and scored through Thommo to make it 3-3. then we Si Rothers scored a cracker from 20 yards to take the lead. But TBC weren't done and came back and the Cat scored an opportunists goals after the keeper had spilled it but he had to chip 2-3 players to score. Not to be undone Woodies scored to make it 5-4 through some good work down the left by new boy Wayne who crossed for Ieu to complete his hat-trick. However, the drama wasn't done and in the fading light another set piece was only half cleared and TBC got their equaliser. It stayed that way until pens. It started with some good pens with neither goalkeeper getting near them but at 3-2 to us Ash saved well from the Cat. Then Sarge blasted one into to the roof of the net to make it 4-2 and then when Cookie blazed over we were home. Was a very entertaining game of football and some good football at times by both sides but I can't say I enjoyed a lot of the defending by my team from the sidelines. Might have to dust off the old boots yet .

Even when we stormed into a 3-0 lead I always thought Woodies weren't beaten and so it proved. Really pleased with our first match against Div 1 opposition and looking forward to building on this. Congrats to Woodies and we have the Shield to look forward to. TBC scorers: Nick Tymko, Chris Beddoes, Cat Hancox(2), Cookie Cooke.

Be surprised, there was a bit of rain but the ground is still very firm. The Alveston Arena was excellent last night, excellent coverage of grass, firm but took a stud.

It was called off a few days ago so probably not weather related. See you tonight Ian. Congratulations to Woodies.

The great news is Cookie 1 (James) will be facing Cookie 3 (Adie) when we face Real Thornbury in the GFA later this month.
