In our game we were 3-1 down shortly after half time but came back well in the last 15 mins to get a draw. We hit the underside of the crossbar as well in the last 5 mins and could have won it but that would have been harsh on CC who scored a couple of good goals and shaded the number of chances. Our goals came from Ben Mitchel (2) and Si Thompson. Thommo changed the game when he went from centre back to centre forward and scored one and laid one on for Ben. Good to see Chris Day still reffing and getting closer to his target (was that reffing for 40 years??)

Yep, fairly typical game between the two of us. Keenly contested midfield battle, both teams having chances but we just managed to take some of ours. First goal was a bullet header from Johnsy from a corner (not sure he's ever scored in a competitive game before) about half an hour in.

Early in the second half, Johnsy scored again latching onto a loose ball following a free kick, and then two minutes later debutant Tom drove in a left foot volley from inside the area following good work from fellow debutant Dan (not Flynn) on the right. That seemed to sap some of the belief from BSXI who had started the second half the better team. They had one or two chances to get back into the game, but couldn't take them.

Great start to the season for us. Smile

It was a good start to the season against a side that seemed to only meet each other today!! I’m sure Carmel will improve as their players get to know each other a bit!!

The only downside was our striker went off injured, he is off to hospital now and hoping it is not to serious.

Goals were from- Michael Duggan- 3
Mitch Hayward- 2
Dan Hull- 1
Dave Riches-1

VCF Santos 7 - 1 Bristol Pistols

Goals from Hugo (2), Ryan and Peregrine (4)

Good start to the league season for us. In the first half we shaded territory and chances but it was fairly even and Pistols got an equaliser not long before half time. Think we always looked marginally the better side but Pistols did create some chances with balls over the top of our defence. Once we'd got the second the game became easier and obviously it was pretty comfortable by the end.

SAS 5 Kensington 3

SAS had nearly a full squad to pick from today which is pretty unusual (2 London based players and 1 Exeter based)

Kensington looked decent and although they conceded 2 goals in the first 25 mins, they dominated possession in this period.
We looked sharper 'up top' than them and that was probably the key difference. They pulled it back to 2-2 after capitalising on 2 individual errors (made by probably our 2 best players ironically).
we got our third just on the stroke of half time, a lovely goal involving 5 or 6 nice touches in the build-up.
2nd half we played like we know we can and although Ken scored a very nice goal early on I think SAS sensed the game was there for the taking as Ken began to tire.
We then got a couple of goals, the second created a bit of debate but the ref made the right call (I think) to allow the goal.
In the end I felt we totally dominated, but didn't create many further chances.

Goals: Luca x 2, Dayman x2, Dorney x 1

Ps. Our number 8 was Mike Cawley
Pps. Who was your number 9? Nathan Coltman?

No arguments today. The new lad in the middle was key for them and they stifled our midfield play very well. A frustrating game for us against a side that seem to have the indian sign over us. A week off to lick wounds and then the Baps...

Absolutely thrilled with the lads performance today. Sorry I had to disappear after 50 odd minutes, duty calls and all that.

Moody who?
Congratulations to Woodies.

Pips 3-1 Hillfields Baps (HT 1-1)

Goals for us - own goal (Hillfields full back) Brain and Ali (pen)

A tricky start for the GFA cup winners but we did play better in the 2nd half as Wes livened things up and Brain managed to get on the end of a great free kick. Also grateful to Newelly, who made two great saves to keep HFBC at bay. Pips 1st win on the opening day since 2006/7 BigGrin

Great to see all of the now (older) faces earlier, shame I couldn't hang around for a bit longer but had to work.
SAS looked strong from what I could see on the pitch on the far side, also spotted Eakes retrieving the ball from the treacherous slope a few times as it ran away from him during the 2nd half!. Good win for Slip, BSXI's bogey team strikes again.

Looking forward to getting my studs into the new season now but frustrated as we don't have a match for two weeks!

LOL (can't believe I just typed that, just shows what the world is coming to! After careful thought, I now see that this is referring to Phil C of Counterslip and not myself. I'm getting slightly confused, could be the first signs of dementia creeping in......

Sorry its late went away camping straight after game to cornwall with my Son :-)

Hillfields Res 5 v Harcliffe 8

Yes crazy scoreline but there were good reasons.

Ref didn't turn up and turns out his daughter was rushed to hospital so I hope she is OK thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.

We didn't have any subs and Hartcliffe didn't have anyone able on the bench to ref. I said we would play with 10 and they said they would too. They also said they would ref the second half and take off one of their players. Very humbling and amazing attitude from Zoe and her lads.

Hartcliffe went 2-0 up in 10 minutes and it looked like we were in for a battering, however Leon scored a great goal from the edge and though Hartcliffe scored a third, Joab scored to set up an interesting second half.

Hartcliffe took off two of their best players who split the half to ref the game. We scored straight away to equalise Leon again, then we took the lead with a deflected effort off of Alex.

We looked in control and had chances to increase our lead, however nobody could have predicted that one of our players would flip out and just go crazy we took him off before he hurt anybody but the damaged had already been done he helped Hartcliffe earn a penalty equaliser and then gave away a freekick which they took the lead from we then took him off before he was sent off. Obviously this left us with 9 against 10 (even though they said we could bring a played on but didn't want to break the rules), they went 7-4 up we scored a 5th through Nathan but they got an 8th to wrap up a great win.

It was amazing to see the attitude of the Hartcliffe lads they didn't have to play us with 10 and they did then their captian and best player came off to ref the game, the attitude and understanding of Zoe was amazing as well. They get bad press even in this league but I saw an amazing thing in the Harcliffe team and the work Zoe is doing is remarkable, very humbling and although we lost out I am please they came away winners as their attitude deserved it.
Has seen 4 lads through his team become Christians in the last 18 months or so - How awesome is that?

To back up what Rich has said, I did Welton/Hartcliffe in the Cup. There was an unfortunate incident when I had no option but to send a Hartcliffe player off. Take that incident out of it, At the end of the game I said to Zoe and a Hatcliffe person who played for them last season that the atttitude of their team had shown as amazing improvement on last season.

So compliments where compliments are due, as the saying goes.
