GVC Rovers v Corinthians - away win Racing Santos v Rock - away win Welton v Hartcliffe - home win And don't forget to "tweet" your results, hashtag #bcfaresults Green Army!"You don't stop playing football because you get old, you get old because you stop playing football"Mangotsfield and Castle Green URC

Very difficult to predict. Don't underestimate OCR Ian. I think they've been busy trying to recruit over the summer, so could be a fairly decent side. Jonty Flynn is certainly playing for them, and he already has a taste for scoring against Castle Green. Only BCFA team to beat BSXI 4 times since 12th December 2009.....

Got to agree not sure why 3 games cancelled completely, as it's BH w/e we are simply rearranging our game with Powerhouse as they couldn't get a team, thought others would have just done the same. Think Joe Lee is playing at OCR this year aswell Just completed my 21st consecutive BCFA season!

With the number of walkovers etc I wonder whether it is time to change the first date as being the bank holiday weekend. We were due to play TBC but both our pitches were unavailable and both were expecting to have people away. We are therefore playing midweek after the opening game on 3rd September. Maybe we should give the flexibility to teams to play on the bank holiday weekend or in the first 2 weeks as a midweek game.
By the way, I don't believe Widcombe have folded, its just that they are unable to raise a team for this game. Carmel have unfortunately pulled out of the league this season.

At last someone has stated the obvious - so many people go away Aug bank hol its no wonder so many games are walkovers/rearranged! Might as well make the midweek before the first Sat the window to play prelim cup games?

I actually disagree. You know at the start of the season that you could play on this date, and you have several weeks notice whether you're drawn in the prelim or not. Until last season when the bye thing was introduced for Div 1 teams in the GFA Cup, we'd been drawn in the prelim every time (about 7 years running, beating the small odds of that happening [/bitterness]). We never had to rearrange or concede a walkover. It was probably hard to get a team together sometimes, but we always managed it. And surely most other leagues in Bristol play on this Saturday? Certainly the leagues that have already started. Only BCFA team to beat BSXI 4 times since 12th December 2009.....

Nath, Nath, Nath.
Youre a married man right?
How many weeks notice would your wife need to convince her not to take the family away on August Bank Holiday weekend - the last weekend before the season proper. Thats right, it wouldnt matter how many weeks, youre going away. (or is it just me?!!)
As a squad packed with married men, we were always going to struggle, so told the league we couldnt play that weekend. Im sure most teams would be happy to play in the midweek anyway?

Ideally, the teams that get drawn each other should correspond and sort a suitable date from Bank Holiday weekend and midweek up to 15th Sept. As it is currently all games should be originally scheduled for Bank Holiday weekend with the option to re-arrange like many are. It would be interesting to see if this was a League weekend or there was only one cup whether so many teams would cancel their matches. The only time you run out of chances is when you stop taking them.

I'm sure most people would be happy to play midweek, yes, which is fine if teams are happy to do that. I can't actually remember many walkovers in the past on this date, so maybe it's an anomly? And personally, the idea of sitting in nightmare traffic with two or three fed up kids in the back, aiming to get to a place that will likely be rammed full of people is not something I'd consider doing. I don't think the wife and I have ever gone away on this bank holiday weekend, and are never likely to either. Although if she did want to go, obviously I know better than to stand in her way. I think it just comes down to each individual team. Bank holidays aren't a prob for us but only 2 are married and only 1 has kids. My lads just want to play football! Take Rock as an example and they are the opposite. The main thing though is that all clubs declare their unavailable dates before 1/7 as far as is reasonably possible. Mind you we fell foul of that and had to rearrange 3/9 v Welton. Sometimes there's only so much you can do.
