There's the World Championships every couple of years as well, and it's not much different to most sports in this country other than football. Cricket only becomes a major sport when there's an Ashes series, tennis only when it's Wimbledon, rugby only during the 6 nations or a world cup etc etc..... Only BCFA team to beat BSXI 4 times since 12th December 2009.....

The series for India is mostly sold out at all all grounds for the first three days, There's 20000 people at Lords for Sri Lanka as I type and even Glos have already sold 70% of their T20 tickets. Thousands attend rugby every week and every 6N game is sold out. Even the athletics world champs don't actually get that much attention in this country. Haven't got a problem with Athletics at all. Just would never call it a 'big' sport. Seems similar to Tennis in terms of our sporadic interest, and at least people get interested in tennis for a couple of weeks every year.

To be fair it's a major sport within the olympics. But I agree, it's not a majors sport. If you ever see the crowds at crystal palace for a normal meet they are rubbish. Far more people watch rugby, cricket etc. And Nath, cricket is only major when an Ashes series is on? Give over...

It began Congratulations so it very much looks like a very early start on 7th August 2012. We only applied for Hockey tickets and it is one event that is not sold out. Feel sorry for those you have got nothing though. Don,t know yet how much has been taken from my account as I went for the middle option but was prepared to go higher, we shall see. Wonder how soon the site will crash on 24th when the next round of applications start?.

Chris, why don't you check your bank account and see how much has been taken? Also, cbeds, did you get any tickets from your £6k application? So far, Benjiman has two tickets for a football prelim game, and I have a mate at work who's got tickets for a couple of early basketball rounds. Total of £140 worth of tickets from combined applications of everyone I know of around £11k. Getting ready for June 24th now.....gonna be an early start. Only BCFA team to beat BSXI 4 times since 12th December 2009.....

Getting ready for June 24th now.....gonna be an early start. Managed to get two boxing sessions, 2 x hockey sessions, archery, weightlifting, badminton and athletics - total cost £900. Really chuffed with the athletics, got a morning session with no finals but Men's 200m heats and triple jump heats. Really feel for those who didn't get tickets. We didn't get any cycling, gymnastics (my daughter is gutted) or swimming which were 3 of our 4 favourite Olympics sports.

Benjiman, RingofFire and myself may see you there then, as we got tickets for the same session in the 2nd ballot. We paid £95 for ours. I'm guessing you paid a bit less! Also got tickets for the football bronze medal match at Cardiff. Hoping it will be a good game. Should be a couple of decent teams anyway, with a few star players. Dan is convinced that Messi will be playing for Argentina. I'm not so sure. Only BCFA team to beat BSXI 4 times since 12th December 2009.....

Lol, when I said we paid £95, that was the price of each ticket. We better have blinking good seats!! Looking forward to seeing Bolt though, even if it is only a heat, and the triple jump and 110m hurdles qualifying gives us a chance to see a couple of decent Brits too. This is from Messi's wikipedia page... Having barred Messi from playing for Argentina in the 2008 Olympics,[166] Barcelona agreed to release him after he held talks with newly appointed coach Josep Guardiola.[167] He joined the Argentina squad and scored the first goal in a 2–1 victory over Ivory Coast.[167] He then scored the opening goal and assisted Ángel di María in the second to help his side to a 2–1 extra-time win against the Netherlands.[168] He also featured in Argentina's match against rivals Brazil, in which Argentina took a 3–0 victory, thus advancing to the final. In the gold medal match, Messi again assisted Di María for the only goal in a 1–0 victory over Nigeria.[169] It's an u23 tournament but teams are allowed 3 over 23s per squad. Messi will be 25 during the olypics. Congratulations to Woodies.

I'm not doubting that he played last time, but it says there that Barca weren't keen on him doing so. I wouldn't be certain he'll play this time. He might do, but I would guess more likely not to. It'll be great if he does though. Only BCFA team to beat BSXI 4 times since 12th December 2009.....
