Slip 0 SAS 1. Should have lost by more, although almost sneaked an equaliser twice near the end. Bad times. Only BCFA team to beat BSXI 4 times since 12th December 2009.....

BUCU 3 - Widcombe C's 1 Probably deserved a draw but obviously very happy with the win! Game turned at 1-1 when one of C's players got sent off for blatant foul on edge/in box. Would rather had a pen and he stayed on but thats the ref's call. Goals from Jack Edmondson (2 (1 pen)) and OG.

Hillfields 0 v BSXI 3 We played really well today. BSXI got at us a lot and Tom made some good saves and we defended well, a bit of a lapse in concentration led to BSXI scoring early from a set piece, I think Stouty with a header. But we then stayed really solid and frustrated BSXI with some good closing down and fight. Can't say we had any chances first half though a cooler Christy could have done better. HT 1-0 Second half we started solid again and look OK and had a few hlaf chances to draw level, although make no mistake BSXI we constantly pressuring our defence, somehow a foul for me was overlooked and BSXI got one and Tom made a good save from the freekick but Bally scored the rebound. I think our heads dropped for a minute and BSXI scored their only open play goal with a risky header which beat Tom not sure who scored it. After that we composed ourselves and made some actual good chances and shame we could score. Tom Turrell was amazing all day and work the BSXI defence hard, but unfortuanately he was involved in an incident at the end with Jamie Collins who was subsequently sent off and lets just say Tom has a cracked tooth. Tom was really gutted wound up but now seeing his tooth can understand why, Tom got a yellow for his rant afterwards. A note worth mentioning is that the ref only booked both players despite Toms claims and he was angry to say the least, however Paul Taylor who was running the line for BSXI was honest to Jamies actions and the ref sent him off. Was a sad end to a really fun game and enjoyed the banter with Franco (who didn't score ) bar that incident really enjoyed today against the champions elect. Well done BSXI Has seen 4 lads through his team become Christians in the last 18 months or so - How awesome is that?

Glad you put that in, I wasn't sure if saying we should have won by more would come across as a bit arrogant. We must've had between 15-20 corners, and a fair few of those crosses were won by our boys, but we either couldn't find the target or their keeper was in the right place to make the save. Our goal came from Dorney (again) after some decent work from me (if I say so myself!), though my shot came back off the post and Mike was quickest to react and knock in the rebound. And Nathan8 was spot on with the Slip threat too - despite our dominance they had 2 really good 18 yard shots in the last ten minutes that both drifted just past the post. Last game of the season for us next week!!

As stated above we came back with late goals to win the game. Their number 9 scored two great goals, the first was a shocking swerve of a shot. We had plenty of chances and were denied by a mixture of saves, poor finishing and woodwork.got a goal back through Ieu and was 1-1 at half time. 2nd half saw santos take the lead thru another great strike and at 2-1 I made a horror mistake from which they hit the post. The bit of luck we needed and we rallied and scored two in the last 10 minutes. Good game which we dominated in terms of chances but santos will be gutted not to have got anything from the game.

Santos 2-3 Woodies
Thoroughly enjoyable contest in which it has to be said the deserving team came away with the 3 points.
Woodies started the faster out of the blocks with Baynton (former winger now equally useful midfielder!) having a large say in the middle of the park, winning a lot of the aerial battle and creating openings with some purposeful surges from midfield for the front two of Pearse and Mitchell. The pace of Mitchell and Baynton was giving us a fair few problems and 3 good chances went begging. For Santos Boye Dabo's trickery down the right hand side resulted in a couple of good crosses to Joe Davis who couldn't quite convert from a tight angle. We then opened the scoring against the run of play in 20th minute - Boye continuing his impressive goalscoring record with a firm left foot finish into the bottom left from the right hand corner of the box.
This lifted Santos slightly who then came close through Foxy from 20 yards, and Tom Allen headed onto the bar from a good delivery from Jaspa Mario. However the remainder of the first half belonged to Woodies who deservedly equalised on about 35 mins, a firm finish which was deflected past the helpless home keeper (debutant called Prince who kept us in contention all game by the way!).
Second half followed suit and Santos' second goal similarly came against the run of play: Woodies again bossing possession and using the width of the pitch very well, switching play from left to right (and vice versa) until a good through ball from the Santos midfield to Boye allowed him to hit a swerving shot past the Woodies keeper. 25 mins to go and Santos started to feel it might be their day. Boye was unlucky not to get his hattrick (and perhaps seal an unlikely win) after a lob on the half volley just dropped the wrong side of the post.
To their credit Woodies came back strong and Pearse was unlucky not to equalise from close range. Shortly after he got his goal - a good cross to the Santos back post and Pearse was on hand to oblige with a header.
5 or so mins later the sucker punch - Woodies won a free kick on the left hand side which was whipped into the back post and their player (can't remember who now) was unmarked to head home.
Gutting to concede so late as we were close to a second excellent result in as many games after last week's win against Christchurch but fair to say the better team won. Very representative of our season - this Santos squad is gifted but it's a credit to the sides we've played that they've perhaps shown a bit more quality in certain areas of the game that have helped them come away with a win. Just a bit more belief and we may pick up a few more points - still not giving up on staying up!!

Pips 3-3 Nailsea Our goals came from Ali (penalty), Brain R & Shailel. I couldn't make this match but yet another high scoring draw for the 2nd weekend running! You can't complain you won't see goals (at both ends) when we play! Still Pips are now unbeaten in the league since BSXI nicked it in the last minute. Some interesting results again across all 3 divisions. Big match on tuesday night at Almondsbury Tn's ground - GFA Minor Cup Final, 7.30pm KO if anyone wants to come and watch/support the league. I think it's £2.50 on the turnstiles! http://pipnjayfc.ukffteams.co.uk/ Pip n jay GFA Minor cup winners 2010-11

Still think CC are in the title hunt. We play BSXI on sat and they haven't beaten us in about 5 attempts. Congratulations to Woodies.

You are right Dan but I cannot see BS XI dropping too many points, and I think even if they did slip up against the likes of you then they would still have enough to beat CC at the end of the season.

Dan is working on the theory that Slip get under BS XI's skin and therefore don't perform. How anyone can ever think Dan would get under anyone's skin........

We know nothing is won and we also know we have tricky games remaining. Hopefully we can shake our recent poor record against 'slip this Saturday and CCs drop points against Pips. "Ashton will never get in your boat Kirbs. He’s too much of a chirpser." Nathan Redshaw, 16/07/2009.
