Christchurch 5 Woodies 3. I come on here the 2nd week in a row having dominated a game and conceded 5 ! Just struggling to defend at the moment. Played some good stuff at times and scored some good goals so very frustrated. Thought we should have had a pen at 3-1 when Matt Hyde was tripped. Disappointed the ref looked to have pointed to the penalty spot and then changed his mind after a few reactions from the ChCh defenders. Having said that, you can't concede 5 and expect anything, ChCh were clinical in taking their goals today.

Rock 1 - BUCU 4 (scorers jack Edmondson 2, will Rowe, tom)

Pitch was great today and it was nice to pass it about. Played some really neat football in the first half and went in 3-0 at the break, rock came out fighting in the second half and won an early penalty which was dispatched via a divot (karma for a fluffed finish ourselves!)

We dropped our heads in the second half but got the win, think rock have a real chance of avoiding the drop though.

It was a really good game today with both teams having good chances but never having the touch to finish.

The pistols keeper made a couple of really good saves which kept them in it.

great result for powerhouse but a very close game. After scoring an early goal we had to soak up a lot of pressure from Gordano who must have had about 10 corners in the first half! The second half was more even and we hit the cross bar twice. A close game that now means we are top of the league. BigGrin

Lost to the better team today. Could've been different, Brady hit the post with last kick of the first half at 2-0 down, Dom then missed from about 2 yards at the start of the second half, they could've and maybe should've lost one of their back three for a second yellow following q foul in the box, but ref didn't even give the pen which all the players were waiting for, but like I said at the top, they were way better than us today. They pressed really well first half which meant we struggled to string anything together and when they got the third we fell apart.

Disappointing result again, went in at half time 2-1 down to two penalties, then pulled it back to 3-3 before going 5-3 down, one direct from a corner. Struggled with a makeshift defence again today so no real continuity in our play. Well done Carmel

A good game which was pretty evenly matched, Pips took their chances well and other than that only had a few long range shots. We managed to keep them quiet until that last 15 when we were pushing people forward. Disappointed to lose again, but pleased that we actually managed to get a team out at all and it was an enjoyable game. Thanks for the banter guys and all the best in the final.

Lucky Penalty, Keeper went the right way but a divot made it bounce over him, he would have saved it otherwise.

Great win today, keeping up our record of being undefeated at home in the league.
Our striker (Jay evans) got taken away by ambulance with 20 minutes to go-possibly a broken leg so keep him in your prayers.

'Slip 5-1 Hillfields

Sure Hillfields will agree that we outplayed them from start to finish. Penalty gave us the lead after a crude challenge on me from Crofty. In all fairness, he got the ball but did kick it the way I was travelling so maybe why the ref didn't see it. I told the ref he touched the ball but he stuck by his decision. Let's not forget, if you take the man first, it's a foul, maybe that's what the ref saw. We could have scored plenty more. Hillfields never gave up but didn't really test our keeper enough.

Goals from...

Me (pen)
Tim 3
Spring

Favourite part of the match was Joe Allen screaming like a girl in pain but then admitted that it didn't actually hurt that much :-)

Bring on the final.
Congratulations to Woodies.

Slip 5 v Hillfields 1

Slip came out flying we had to defend hard and actually had the best chance with Leon missing an open goal and then hitting the post from that miss. I then conceded a soft penalty (thanks to Dan Flynn for his honesty and saying to the ref that I got the ball but ref wasn't having it), Dan Flynn scored the pen. Hillfields pushed but couldn't create anything and slip were always dangerous and not long before Halftime, Tim finished well from just inside the box.

HT 2-0

Hillfields came out fast second half and had two amazing chances to get a goal back in first 5 minutes but we couldn't put them away, a rusty Christy but hit itover when clear. Then James had a good chance again clear but shot a bit early. Leon had another chance from the edge of the box but it was tame, Slip got their act together and I think Tim scored two more goals and then I added their fifth with an OG when I should have let keeper collect it. We never gave up and Aaron beat his man on the left to cross to James who diving headed the ball home.

Really gutted to lose as its our first loss in the shield in 3 seasons and we wont be in the final Crying But slip wanted it more and deserved it fully. There are always turning points and if Leon had finished maybe it would be different but he didn't and here we are. Well done Slip and all the best for the final (maybe this year).

Love the og comment, spring will love that. Was easily his goal and not an

And I think you are being harsh on your player, wasn't an open goal, was a really tight angle and nick was on the line.
Congratulations to Woodies.

Quite happy with awarding the OG to Spring understand where ur coming from with it being on target, just fell I should punish myself with it because it was going it our keepers arms easily BigGrin

The shot that hit the post players were on the line but the initial chance was a tap into an empty net all be it as u say tight.

Yep, Leon's chance was a good one. If he'd connected properly, neither Spring nor me (frantically trying to get across the line) would have stopped it. In both halves, Hillfields had a great early chance that they didn't take, and we made them pay for it. As good as we've played all season today. Hope we can continue that forward to make sure we avoid a relegation battle.

Thornbury 2-0 Castle Green

A proverbial 6 pointer this morning and TBCFC came out on top.

A poor first 20 mins from us defensively in the first half and before we knew it we were 2 down. After that we woke up and it kick started us. A few good chances were wasted in front of the Baps goal while at the other end, Matt James went full stretch on 2 occasions to tip over a couple of blistering drives.

In the second half the Baps continued with 5 in midfield and parked the bus, trouble is they chose what looked like Jose Mouriniho's bus and we just couldn't get through or behind them, despite heavy spells of pressure in their half. We rode our luck a few times though with the Baps breaking at pace and nearly catching us out.

Never the less, 2-0 it remained in what was a tough, hard fought but sporting contest between 2 sides, that was a great advert for the second division.

Well done to Thornbury, they worked very hard for their victory and defended valiantly. Only the second game this season we have failed to score.

Well done also to Counterslip for reaching the Shield Final and commiserations to Hillfields.

Much like your goal. Both well struck, on target and sliced into the net when going to the keeper!

Ian has this morning spot on so not much to add. Our two goals from Dave 'Tush' Tushingham. We did indeed park the bus in the second half and tried to catch Castle Green on the break. They played some great football and almost made it interesting with about 4 minutes to go when our right back Jake Alker made an astonishing clearance off the line, somehow scooping the ball on to the bar whilst wrapping himself around the net! If that had gone in it would have been a nervy last few minutes. I don't think I've felt so exhausted after a game....I was totally and utterly spent.

Amazing to think that was not a Division 1 match today.....whichever two teams go up will strengthen Division 1 even further. Ian's lads' conduct was superb; it was a really hard, tough match played out in an excellent spirit by two committed sides.

Definitely a two horse race in Div 1 then....it's been interesting seeing it unfold. Not sure who's going to join VCF Santos in Division 2 (sorry Santos)...it's gunna be tight.

Widcombe C's 1 - 2 Racing Santos

A good game, played out on a great pitch - VERY wide pitch! 0-0 at half-time, then Racing score with a sweeping 5 pass move straight from the kick-off...only for Widcombe to do exactly the same from the resulting re-start!

Good times for Racing today Cool ...few and far between this season...

Oh, and Cbeds, I can guarantee you that Racing won't be joining VCF Santos in the 2nd Div next season, even if we escape relegation... Crying
