Metcheck still has it being pretty cold for the next few days with it only getting to about 3 or 4 degrees on Friday and Saturday. The Beeb reported this morning that it should be milder than that. So I am hopeful that we might get to play some football this weekend. I hate these long breaks between games, it makes you feel like the season has ended, especially when training gets frozen off as well.

Anyway, my predictions are as follows:

GFA Minor

Woodies and Pips to win

GFA Intermediate

BS XI to win

BCFA 1st Div

Slip v Hillfields - home win, Slip playing well at the moment and this could see them moving into the champions league spot
SAS v Widcombe - both teams badly need a win here, and I reckon SAS will come through with a much needed win

Div 2

BUCU v Castle Green - BUCU were apparently impressive a few weeks back but end of termitis might have set in and I predict an away win
Kensington v Pistols - home win
Suburbs v Racing - no game for Santos's first team this weekend so their reserves may be bolstered by 1 or 2 first teamers leading them to their 2nd win of the season
Welton v Rock - home win

Div 3

Gordano v Oasis - home win
Grace v Carmel - home win
Powerhouse v Hartcliffe - game of the day in Div 3, draw I reckon

All games off. We need more than a couple of days of 5 degrees to thaw it out.
Congratulations to Woodies.

The fields on the high ground in Bath are still white, and the frost will be so deep into the ground I wonder whether all the games will go ahead even with the warmer temps.

Very heavy frost in Saltford this morning temp was -6C when I left home, METCHECK is now showing just below freezing for Friday night hopefully it will be a bit warmer in Bristol, but not looking good for games on saturday morning.

Our game will have a reasonable chance of being on there will be chavs galore drinking tinnies on the pitch the night before regardless of temperature so should warm it up a bit.
The only time you run out of chances is when you stop taking them.

Better hope you have a groundsman that actually clears rubbish off the pitches, else you might end up like us lot and go around picking up condoms and knickers off the pitch (no joke)!

Can't you control what the slip players do on a Friday night?
Has seen 4 lads through his team become Christians in the last 18 months or so - How awesome is that?

I think games will go ahead this weekend. Pretty sure we'll be on at Filwood anyway. Might only have been 5C yesterday, but the sun was out most of the day which will add an extra couple of degrees. Certainly the grassy area I cycled past this morning within a couple of hundred yards of Filwood looked soft enough to play (albeit I didn't actually check it out).
Only BCFA team to beat BSXI 4 times since 12th December 2009.....

I did a highly scientific experiment this morning on my walk to work and walked over a grassy area. I was surprised how hard it was still underneath the top. I would say you could still play on it, just, so hopefully another full mild day today which is forecast and we'll be ok.

BBC says 5 degrees all night but Metcheck says 0 degree. How can they be so different??
Congratulations to Woodies.

I think weather predictions result in a highest and lowest possible temperature. The BBC and Metcheck might calculate the most likely actual temperature within these ranges differently.

As long as it's above freezing, we'll be ok. If it goes below 0, I can't see there being time in the morning for the ground to thaw.

I didn't realise you had grass between the bedroom and the lounge?

Castle Green v Wanderers Res - GFA Primary Cup R3

Groundstaff have declared the game on subject to the referee inspecting the pitch before kick off. Sounds like game on!

I'm getting choked up with happiness about finally being able to play a game of football tomorrow. If it's off, I'm going to knock Dan out.
