Even this early it is not looking good for the games at Bath Uni for Saturday there is 1-2 inches of frozen snow on the ground outside the office which is rock hard under the snow layer, the outside temp is currently -1C. Metcheck is showing a daytime max reading of 0 to 1C for the whole week, with night time temps going to between -4C to -6C as as I have said before you could add another -2 degrees up on the high ground, with a strong possibility snow friday afternoon and during the night. Boo hoo!

Well the only thing going for us is that we are an afternoon kick off in the GFA so stand more of a chance. Forecast shows it not getting above zero pretty much all week in Bristol so it looks dicey for the weekend.

BBC says only -1 overnight on Friday.......but the temp is barely going any higher on Saturday morning, so chances aren't looking great. Let's hope the forecast improves in the next couple of days. Come on low pressure!!

could really do without a GFA call off because of the havoc it causes with having to move the following week's league game to make way.

I was hoping to play 9 league games this side of Christmas, now the max at the moment is 8, but somehow I can see it being less.

Welcome to my world Ian. Last season we played our 7th league game of the season in mid March!! It was the GFA cancellations in December (cancelled 3 weeks in a row) which scuppered us. But we all know what happened in the end though don't we ? Wink

About an inch of fresh snow on the the high ground in Bath this morning and light snow is still falling, had about half an inch at home.

It was very cold at the 6 a side last night, just pleased the wind was not very strong

Absolutely! Back in the day, real men played a man's game! We played in ice and snow, we played in ankle deep liquid mud, I been there seen it and done it. We took heavy challenges and gave it back without anyone crying to the ref or gesturing to the ref waving imaginary cards!

Some of you kids haven't lived and will never get the chance to either.

Footballers these days? Bunch of pussies!! ThumbDown

BBC weather today said it will get "less cold" as we head into the weekend. Some hope then, but I still reckon it's more likely there won't be any games.

Rovers have just been called off tonight. Using that as a bench mark and bearing in mind the pitch has been covered, it doesn't bode well for this Sat for local football. If Rovers can't thaw out the Mem for this Sat, the rest of us have no chance

Having said that Ian, I know sometimes games are called off under health and safety grounds relating to supporters getting to the ground etc so this could be the reason, although doubtful as the roads were pretty clear this morning. As you say, it doesn't look great for this weekend.

Rovers have reported that the pitch is frozen solid and the ref had no hesitation. It is the pitch and not issues with the stadium

I agree with a fair few peeps on this thread, I don't reckon the games will go ahead as the temperature isn't meant to rise that much over the next 3 days, obviously we'll have to wait and see......

So, Bath Uni have already said that due to the amount of snow on their pitches, if they're not frozen on Saturday they'll be waterlogged, so no games are taking place. We've rescheduled to Filwood which should be pretty much snow-free (although some snow fell last night, so it might have a slight dusting now), but it remains to be seen if we can play there. Current BBC forecast has a low of +1C on Friday, so that gives me some hope. Metcheck has it being -2 overnight. Not quite as cold as last week, so maybe some hope of playing?

Spoke to our GFA opponents yesterday and they had received an email from BCC saying assume all games are off unless they hear otherwise, they aren't expecting the pitches to be anything other than frozen.

I'm surprised at how optimistic you're being Nath. Filwood will be rock hard, no way any games will go ahead this weekend.
Congratulations to Woodies.

Dan, I've always said I'm a realist, not a pessimist. Although I have been a bit pessimistic about Liverpool lately. This week, I'd saying I'm being hopeful rather than optimistic.
