Back to the bread and butter of league football this week, so lets get the predictions in early:
Div 1
Christchurch v Bristol Sanctuary XI - El Classico is not happening in Spain this weekend, it's at Fry's. This should really test Christchurch's title ambitions and with BS XI having not played for 2 weeks ChCh will fancy they have a chance. Big game, BS XI will obviously be up for it and I fancy them to nick it, but maybe by the odd goal.
Hilfields Park Baptist v SAS United - away win for me, SAS showed on Saturday some of the form they had last season so have started to go in the right direction and I think will end their losing run.
Nailsea v Counterslip - used to be Slip's bogey team but Slip are playing confidently and I fancy them to nick this as well.
Pip n Jay v Widcombe Wanderers - hmm, tough one to call, PNJ's form of late would suggest a home win here, and I'll stick with that.
VCF Santos v Woodland Rangers - the table would say away win but Santos have started to pick their game up of late and were unlucky by all accounts versus Christchurch the other week. Certainly not taking them lightly as they have some good players.
Div 2
Castle Green v Racing Santos - home win Rock Crusaders v Bristol Pistols - home win Suburbs United v BUCU - away win Thornbury Baptist v Welton Rangers - game of the day in Div 1, draw Widcombe Corinthians v Kensington Baptist - away win
Div 3
Hartcliffe Saints v Carmel - revenge for Hartcliffe with a home win Oasis Cairns Road v Gordano Valley Church Rovers - away win
Enjoy one and all.

I'm holding off on the predictions front. Both BBC and Metcheck forecasting a low of -3 on Friday night, so most games will be under threat if that happens. Let's hope the forecast improves a bit before then! Only BCFA team to beat BSXI 4 times since 12th December 2009.....

The money ran out and club directors didn't want to risk administration and a 10 point deduction. The running track is a pain in the backside, but plannning for a new ground in an area of outstanding natural beauty is currently being fought in the high court, government intervention is all tee'd up if that fails!! Metcheck is showing a possible -3 for Bath on Friday night, up on the high ground where the Uni is that could easily be -5 or more and is looking like it will stay that cold until 9-10 AM Saturday. At the it is looking dodgy for my game. Hopefully it will not be that bad.

I went out at 10.00AM today to look at a very large flat grass area at work. Despite the sun being on it, it was still covered in frost and rock hard. If it had been a football pitch it would have been unplayable. Even at lunchtime though the frost had gone, just below the surface it was still very very hard. Definately not confident for Saturday. Just hope the Uni make an early call so that Kensington/WC and yours truely will not have a wasted trip.

So, BBC website forecast is for it only to be -1 overnight. However, I watched the local weather on Breakfast this morning, and they said -4 overnight, whilst Metcheck is going for -5, and for the temp to hit a high of 0 during Saturday. Sorry to be the pessimist again, but I reckon most games will be off this weekend. Only BCFA team to beat BSXI 4 times since 12th December 2009.....

Icy windscreen at 6.45 this morning, not really thick but enough for de-icer. I'll be more surprised if it's on than off. Congratulations to Woodies.

It was -3 when I got to work at 7.30AM and the grass outside the office was still crunching underfoot at 11.00hrs, and the bits of muddy earth that were showing were frozen and slippery, so frozen ruts will be an issue. Metcheck is now showing -4C overnight which would probably be -6C on the high ground at the Uni. and staying that way until 09.00hrs in the morning. So it is looking very very doubtful, I could possibly make the call on the game now but will have to leave it to the Uni to decide. However I think I will be watching 2 Hockey matches tomorrow and not 1. Metcheck for the Bath area is showing snow for Tues, Weds and Thursday next week which it what Points West weather hinted at last night, which makes even games on 4th Dec look dodgy at least up on the high ground in Bath.

Isn't it the referee's decision to make as it's a safety issue rather than a destroy the pitch issue? Congratulations to Woodies.

OK, used the wrong wording, If we all get there and I deem it unplayable so be it, The Uni have called off themsleves in the past when it has been extremely frosty. If the Uni say no go that will be fine by me. Just do not want everyone getting there and then me finding the pitch is not playable and having to turn round and go home, and I am sure that will be the case for most teams. especially the longest trip in the league, Welton to Thornbury. I think BS4 were on route to the Uni last season on a frosty day, when they got the call when they were half way, so am hoping that an early decision will be made. And as I write snow has just started falling on the high ground in Bath, quite large flakes as well.
