Fullydeserved IMO, should have been more but Tim missed a few great chances and their keeper made a good save when one on one.
Congratulations to Woodies.

Woodies 5 Hillfields 0, some good moments from us at times, particularly in the first half. Hillfields kept on battling and probably should have had a goal or two, but for the odd good save. 5 different goalscorers in Ben Mitchell, Ieuan Pearse, Matt Hyde, Andy Baynton and Joey Mitchell. Nice to be moving up the table again.

Must also mention nailsea's goal - candidate for goal of the season, unstoppable.
Congratulations to Woodies.

We were awesome today in the first half I have to say, taking a 5-0 lead against a good team unbeaten in the league up to today. It was Cookie's last match before he flies out to Oz for 4 months to watch the Ashes (where's the loyalty when you need it!). I said to him we need a hat trick as his swan song and he duly obliged after 20 mins! Tush scored twice, an own goal (sorry Tush, that was the concensus!) and another from Cat Hancox. I take my hat off to Widcombe - the game was over at half time but they never gave up and kept their discipline. An absolute credit to the League.

Cookie's absence will hit us hard but he should be back for all the big games in Feb/March/April against Castle Green/Kensington and Welton.

Waiting for the Div One results to come in. Maybe the topsy-turvey-totally unpredictable results in the First Division are settling down now, with Woodies back to winning ways and the promoted teams finding it a bit harder. Interesting observing from Div 2.....

No game for Castle Green today, so it was a good chance to watch Widcombe as we have them twice in January. Have to say their opponents looked quite good Whistle

Agree with this. We were so very slow to start and Woodies punished us with 2 early goals and some great football - men against boys came to mind, we then got to grips with the game and had two good chances to bring it back but a good save and a clearance off the line, kept us a bay. A late goal by Matt Hyde, probably ended the contest as he lost his marker (me Blushing ) to tap home from a corner.

HT 3-0

However we were optimistic about coming back into the game but that was ended within the first minute, with Baynton scoring a free kick in 46th minute. We then dominated possession and had a few good chances which were either saved or wasted but I was pleased with our fighting spirit to not give up. Having said that, despite all our huffing and puffing, Woodies added a 5th in final minutes to make it look nice and easy, which it probably was from thier point of view.

I think we can see that we still have a lot to learn in this league and I hope we can do it by surviving the league. We are still short a Centre Back to move Joe forward and a committed striker but we'll see what Santa brings us next month Cool

Thought Woodies attitude was awful, there was one time where Andy Baynton tripped me, typical of their dirty tactics Wink Only kidding thought woodies had a great attitude a testamant to the league and was pleased with what we showed despite be behind for the whole match.
Has seen 4 lads through his team become Christians in the last 18 months or so - How awesome is that?

Very jealous of him going to watch the Ashes. Been lucky enough to watch England at the SCG, MCG and Adelaide and it is just brilliant. Enjoy Cookie !!

A great win for us today. The welton team we were expecting didn't seem to turn up and it was a comfortable win.
Mitch Hayward scored 4 and Mike Duggan got the other.

Yeah, it was fairly close in the midfield battle, but watching from the sidelines, I always felt we looked more likely to score. Created enough chances to maybe nick an extra goal. Having said that, Nick in goal made a couple of crucial saves at 2-1, and we were left sweating until 5 mins from the end when Tim made it safe.

Slip goals from Tim 2 and Dan.

And the Nailsea goal.... Drool

Widcombe 2-3 Pips (HT 2-2) Goals from Wes Sousa [2], Jay Reid

A tough battle in which Newell made at least three great saves to help us to the 3 pts. One outstanding save from point blank, one round the post after seeing the ball late and numerous others at full stretch. So I think it' s fair to say Widcombe had a fair few chances but we were guilty of missing a few ourselves, had a goal disallowed and rattled the woodwork twice. The match was played in good spirit in the beautiful autumn setting of bath uni and was enjoyable. We didn't play as well as in recent weeks but we got the result to put us on 10 pts, got to be a club record in div 1 at this stage in the season! Some interesting results as always yesterday, good to see BSXI progress in the Intermediate cup too.

Next up for Pip n Jay - back to cup action: Nailsea

Christchurch 3 - 1 VCF Santos (HT 1-1)

Another match with a very disappointing result, we deserved more from this game. Perhaps we started half asleep because we went down 1-0 in the first 30 seconds due to a lack of focus/concentration and a good finish by Christchurch. After 10 minutes or so we settled and created some good chances causing CC problems. We then equalised with a lob from nearer the halfway line than the penalty box to go in 1-1. 10 mins into the second half a strange decision by the referee caused us big problems, we then let in a sloppy goal (keeper saved the shot and half cleared it to the edge of the box but a well placed good shot into the bottom corner from CC scored - but he wasn't closed down by us). 2 mins to go we push everyone forward for a corner to try to get the equaliser but paid the price and let in a goal on the counter... disappointing.

True, but disappointing that if we'd had the rub of the green we could easily have had at least one more!
