Nath, I'm in the same boat as you. Have cancelled my sky as i'm moving house next week. Have done quite a bit of looking into which one is better in terms of price, value for money, extra costs, freebies (such as ESPN on virgin) and overall, looks like its Virgin wins for me!

JP - of course you have the added complication now of thinking about which channel the Champions League matches are shown on. Nath doesn't have that issue.

Let's not assume that it will be a consideration for JP either....... Only BCFA team to beat BSXI 4 times since 12th December 2009.....

You need to look at how both compaines are setup
Virgin is 'on demand' as they are linked into a fibre optic network so your TV and Internet will be blisteringly fast. • TV replay is fast • Fastest internet service in the UK.
SKY is broadcast over satellite which means if you get bad signal or poor weather your TV will suffer. • Best channels, sports, movies etc. (imo) • More HD channels • Internet service is a standard DSL line
HD TV is overated and overpriced anyway.

The snow earlier in the year played havoc with my signal. I had to keep going outside to knock the snow of the dish with a brush.

I use v+ and think its a great service. Do you get everything like TV on demand / catch up TV / movies on demand etc.. with Sky as these services are great. Izzy loves watching the baby tv nursery rhymes on tv on demand before bed

Lol, all this good advice, I've just phoned Virgin, and they can't provide cable where I'm moving to. Looks like I'm gonna be a Sky man. Only BCFA team to beat BSXI 4 times since 12th December 2009.....
