I was bored this lunchtime so picked a team for this and have created a league. Key is 1272454342, name is BCFA. A mere 100 modifications for this one. Undisputed 2nd favourites for relegation.

I haven't got the skills to win such a tourny. Looking forward to watching it though! "Ashton will never get in your boat Kirbs. He’s too much of a chirpser." Nathan Redshaw, 16/07/2009.

Thought I'd change this to be a general T20 World Cup thread. Disappointed yesterday. We posted a really good score, but yet again against the WI, Duckworth-Lewis comes into play, and basically because Chris Gayle went nuts for a couple of overs, we ended up losing. Same happened in the Sri Lanka game. They scored at 8.65 an over over 20 overs. Zimbabwe (or whoever they were playing) needed 44 of 5 overs, so less than 9 an over. Ok, they didn't get it, but surely their target should have been a bit higher than that?? Anyone think that for T20 they should have a 10 overs a side minimum rule? If both sides can't make that, it's a draw. Just seems that if you only have to bat for 5 overs, you can literally take a big swipe at everything and take loads of risks. Can't really do that even over 20 overs. Should the total be revised as wickets are lost too? Undisputed 2nd favourites for relegation.

I was just making this exact point to my boss at work. A complete joke, and I'm not even a big cricket fan.

I was so disappointed yesterday after such a great batting display. It's great to see us finally picking T20 specialists and we bat to number 10! Nick Knight was livid as apparently they use the same equation as the 50 over game. He was saying that it should be modified for T20 cricket to even it up a little. Saying that who won the toss? Apparently the Windies knew it was going to rain so took full advantage of the situation. "Ashton will never get in your boat Kirbs. He’s too much of a chirpser." Nathan Redshaw, 16/07/2009.

Nath, what they need to do pure and simple is devise a T20 D&L scoring system. At the moment they use the same one as for the 50 over game which is crazy, its a completely different game. How you can get one team that scores almost 10 an over for 20 overs (which England did) and then say to the West Indies that they need to score at 10 an over for just 6 overs with the use of all your wickets is just plain wrong. Crazy. And with the forecast of rain again tonight England had better win the toss and bowl first. Having the tournie so late in the WI summer means there will be more of a risk of rain and the use of the current D&L system could be disastrous.

D&L uses stats from literally thousands of one day games though doesn't it, so do they have enough info to devise a T20 version yet? If not, they need some other method while it's being worked out. I couldn't believe it when I hit the red button last night and read that we had lost. Ashton, I've amended your post slightly for Dan's benefit. Undisputed 2nd favourites for relegation.

Btw Eakes, shame you're not playing the fantasy game. I have Raina as captain , and had Jayawardene for his century yesterday. Although Dan is somehow keeping up with me despite a shocking initial captaincy choice (Ghambir) followed by switching to Colly for yesterday's game. Undisputed 2nd favourites for relegation.

Ouch! Good choice on Raina I reckon. My team would included Raina, Jayawardene, Morgan and Watson

Yep, had Watson too, but not Morgan. Made a bad choice today between Bond and Nathan McCullum though. Rain seems to have held off so far. Clearly waiting for England to get started..... Undisputed 2nd favourites for relegation.

I don't really understand why they had to adjust any targets. It is such a short version of the game. 20 overs only takes 90mins to bowl. It was all over by 22:25 (18:25). Presuming they have floodlights why didn't WI just bat their 20 overs?

Good point Ben. You would have been proud of me tonight, was watching WWTBAM and this question popped up... Which country won Eurovision in 2009? I got it right @@ no need to use you as a call a friend. BCFA cup runners-up 2009/10

The rain helped us out last night then. But it's threatening to make the tournament a bit of a farce. If it keeps happening, you might as well just toss the coin, whoever wins it chooses to field first and then automatically wins the match.... Undisputed 2nd favourites for relegation.

Nath, it only seems to be an issue in Guyana and the games now move to Barbados. Having said that, I just looked at Cricinfo and the fixtures and there is rain forecast for the next few days. So you could be right, it could be just a farce.

I guess it's making a mockery of your Fantasy T20 competition to. Although It's a bit of a joke anyway with 100 subs and only 2 entrants.
