I have a suspicion that no 2nd Div match has ever been covered as a Star Match before. Seem to remember BS XI being covered but only when they were in the GFA cup. Maybe our man Spitts can get on them to cover the BCFA as a star match?

We had a Thornbury v Saltford Star Match but that was also GFA. Come to think of it, I can't remember a 1st division Star Match. Challenge before the season is out, is to get a 1st and 2nd div game covered! Great to get the headlines again, although not great that we lost the 'Battle of the Baps'. Correct, we don't belong to Division 1 this season. Umm, err, hopefully we will return sharpish, but it's not going to be easy. I was more interested in Counterslip's view (and Hillfields, although they haven't been around that long) that the 'Battle of the Baps' is now Kensington V Thornbury!!!!

I'm more interested what your average Evening Post reader, who is unfamiliar with the BCFA, thinks it means? Btw Chris, you are being way too modest here. Thornbury belongs in the 1st division. LOL! Nice one Ian and a very good point! I feared "Baps Out" may have been a headline also.

Lol. Chris, in answer to your question, ever since we entered the league, I've noticed that Thornbury have always been referred to as The Baps. I don't think it's a tag that anyone else has managed to get. If Kensington had been playing us or Hillfields, I doubt it would have been referred to as The Battle of the Baps. Thornbury seem to hold the Baps title in the BCFA, something I've just come to accept. Only BCFA team to beat BSXI 4 times since 12th December 2009.....

I think it originally came about as a reference to distinguish TBCFC from Thornbury Town (the County League side) as its not obvious which team is which!! Related to this, one of my more embarrassing moments in recent years came when I had to give my work password to a secretary because I had left a computer locked in a meeting room. I knew it was a football reference...

We can't be 'Thorns' as that's naff (and also Thornbury Town's nickname) so we'll stick with the Baps.

Random question (Excuse my ignorance but I'm still fairly new on the scene...)
Who does the Evening Post report? Whoever does seemed to know quite a bit about our game with Hayhill and it wasn't posted on the forum. Just interested that's all...

Nathan, it's done by Chris Spittles, plays for BS XI - you might recognise his voice if you meet him as he often does the BBC radio commentary for Rovers/City games or the highlights on ITV of the local league games.
