WW 2-1 'Slip

Thought we looked more dangerous first half but couldn't get a goal. Widcombe scored early second half and settled quicker, we didn't really recover and they scored a second. We did put them under the cosh but could only find one goal. Good game though.

Ambulance present in the other game, Widcombe Corinthians v Kensington so let's hope it's not too serious an injury.
Congratulations to Woodies.

this game was all about Carmel who played the full game with only 10 men. It was 0-0 at half time but we eventually made our domination work. Some tuff games coming up for us but we know if we win them all we will be champions.

Woodies 3 Pip n Jay 3. Pip n Jay went 2-0 up early on with some more poor defending from us at times and it didn't help that our keeper turned up right on kick off feeling unwell. We got 1 back through a well taken Dave P goal and then comitted defensive suicide again and gave away a penalty to make it 3-1. Some wise words from Peachy at half time got our heads up and we played much better and pegged them back athough we were grateful to Ash in goal for a fine save from Ali after a lovely 1-2 with big Brian. Perran came off the bench and helped change the game when he won a penalty (slotted home by Andy B) and then a lovely lay off from him to brother Joey and a lovely cross was headed home by Si Rotheram to complete the comeback. We thought we could win it with 10 minutes to go but by then both sides were looking tired and the Pips could have won it in the last few minutes when Ash saved well. It was good to break the run of losses so hopefully we can build on that.

Apparently Santos beat CC's today so pretty much hands BS XI the title if it wasn't already in their hands.

SAS 4 - 0 Hillfields

Comfortable win today but Hillfields had a few decent chances. Pleased tho as we had bare 11 this morning. Goals from Stevo (2), Dorney and Brady.

Bucu 1 - thornbury 3

Fantastic game of football today down at Patchway. We were unlucky not to get something out of the game but the game was played in a great spirit. Our goal came from zen dzula and was slightly fortuitous but nothing more than we deserved. Will leave it to Chris to give a more detailed report as he was on the winning team...

Hope the injuries sustained by a couple of thornbury players aren't serious. Looks like we could be out of the promotion race now but will keep trying to play like the way we did today!

Agree with Monumento, it was a fantastic game. We took the lead early on after Cat Hancox crossed to myself to head home on 10 mins. I limped off after pulling my calf 5 mins later and we struggled with our shape for a while. BUCU were superb today; their passing and moving caused us numerous problems, particularly in the first half. We had to absorb loads of pressure before we caught BUCU on the break, Tush combining well with Cookie before Cat got the ball and fired home on 30 mins. Our goal then led a charmed life, BUCU hitting the woodwork and forcing a save or two from Braidy. A speculative effort made it 2-1 but it was no more than BUCU deserved.

We tightened up in the second half and began to play the ball along the deck more, but BUCU continued to press and were extremely unlucky not to be awarded a penalty when Andy Robertson took out the BUCU striker. We held firm and caught BUCU on the break with Cat making it 3-1 with the last kick of the match.

Our defence was awesome again today; we've conceded 1 goal in 3 games against BUCU, CG and Kensington, which has been the foundation of our recent run. The conduct of the BUCU guys was outstanding, particularly with the penalty appeal being turned down. If BUCU can keep this group of players then they could squeeze into the top 2 as they have to play Castle Green twice. A number of my guys think they are the best team we've played this year (they beat us earlier in the season). It's a shame 4 teams can't go up!!

Can't fault that analysis, your defence was immense today. We are finally just enjoying playing football having won games instead of languishing in the relegation battle! It's quite a compliment to be called the best team you've played so thanks for that, definitely the toughest games we've faced (with a full squad). Good luck in the promotion hunt

Wasn't there today both myself and Jay corfield were on a course and Joe Lee was also out.

From what I was told appears we didn't take our chances when they came in first half and SAS did and two late goals were SAS only chances of second half probably as the lads got tired. Shame we couldn't take our chances but its been a hit and miss season for us. BSXI at home next week Crying then 4 more home games to see out the season can we stay up, looks like Nailsea ran BSXI close today so looks like they are finding some form.

By the way Santos beat CC 4-1 (yes u read that right)
Has seen 4 lads through his team become Christians in the last 18 months or so - How awesome is that?

Fully expected Santos to get some points after our last game vs them but not against CC! Santos are definitely not the worst team we've played this season.
Congratulations to Woodies.

First bit of good news I have this season and I get beaten to sharing it by two others! Yep, we've taken our time and its been coming for a while, but we finally got 3 points on the board today - a good result for us, even though CC had a slightly weakened side out by the looks of it.

Santos 4-1 Christchurch

First 20 minutes Christchurch weren't really on the ball (excuse the pun) and we had the better posession and chances, scoring 1. They then got a goal back from a freekick to the far side and had a player free to knock it in, they then proceeded to have the best of the rest of the half. After half time it was even for the first 10, CC having two good chances but unluckily missed them and we stayed in it by the skin of our teeth - this was probably the turning point of the game. As the half progressed we settled down, created a few chances and scored some of them. Deserved the win I think, but could have been alot closer if CC has done better with their chances early in the 2nd.

Bristol Pistols 2 Rock 1, good game, neither team wanted to lose, we missed a penalty (well actually Dan made a great save and hurt his hand in the process), then scored a good goal after lots of build up. Stayed that for most of the game, then Rock scored from a corner ( I think), bundled in, we re grouped and came back strong and had a few more chance, Rock also hi the crossbar the winner came from cross come shot that dropped in at the far post beyond Dan, it's tough to lose to a goal like that. We had two like that earlier in the season so good to see we have an element of luck to get the win, good to have chats with some old friends
Just completed my 21st consecutive BCFA season!

Widcombe Corinthians 1-6 Kensington

After a stop-start run since the Christmas break this was back to the Kensington of the first half of the season. Widcombe came out of the blocks quickly and took an early lead from a header. After that we changed our formation and never really looked back. Saw plenty of the ball, kept them under pressure and took our chances, resulting in a 4-1 half time lead.

10 minutes into the second half and one of their strikers (who'd had a good game up to that point) went down in agony clutching his knee, causing a half-hour wait while the ambulance came out. I think it was a recurrence of a previous problem? Anyway we obviously wish him all the best for a quick recovery. Following that we closed out the game with a couple more goals to boost our goal difference and get our season back on track at just the right time. Great spirit from Widcombe today, with the game played on lovely pitch in beautiful sunshine. Goals from Phil B (2), Jay C (2) Andy C and Si B.

I can't say anything extra a fair summary, and defiantly not missed defiantly saved :D, the big bonus I took from the game. (Cause I think my first penalty save all season.) Really disappointed to lose it that way, I'm really gutted.

Preliminary results on Full-Time suggest a 3-1 win for Hayhill and a 7-7 draw for Grace/Hartcliffe!! (I'm suspicious about the latter one though)
