Pip 3-1 VCF Santos (HT 1-0) Goals from Ali Mac and Ken 'one and Oni' (2) A strange match heavily disrupted by injuries which led to extended stoppages in the first half (one Santos player able to carry on, one Pips player taken to A & E) in seperate incidents. Our fella is ok, looked nasty and he's broken his middle finger with the nail torn off. Agree with 'mr wonderful' on the whole, it was a failry even encounter, Santos had the best chance before Ali scored from 25 yards after 30 mins. There was a lack of flow to Pips game and my dad summed up the match with 'it was the match after the lord mayor's show' and I suppose the next game after beating Woodies to progress to the GFA final was always going to be a very different one. We did create more chances though and probably should have scored a few more, Brain and Jacob (before injury) the guilty party. Ken stepped up 2nd half and started to cause havoc, finishing one of the better passing moves with a typically composed finish after beating two Santos defenders. His second was better, a great free kick, curled around the wall. We did let it slip and Santos got stronger, first hitting the post and then scoring shortly afterwards. The two goal cushion proved enough and we defended better after we conceded. Not the best match for the watching scouts of PNE to see! We must improve next week against Woodies. An important 3pts. http://pipnjayfc.ukffteams.co.uk/ Pip n jay GFA Minor cup winners 2010-11

Also, thought I'd share a comment from Dan yesterday about the penalty. "I thought about missing it, but then I'd have lost my 100% record...." Great result for us in a game that we could quite easily have slipped up in. A shame Woodies didn't get anything from their game. It's a shame that the reigning champs find themselves in a relegation battle, but I guess that is the competitive nature of this league. Still can't believe Santos haven't got a point as they looked like a decent outfit when we played them. Nice to see that the Slip boys will be joining us on Finals day. Maybe we'll get to have that trophy winning shower afterall Mr Flynn @@. "Ashton will never get in your boat Kirbs. He’s too much of a chirpser." Nathan Redshaw, 16/07/2009.

Lost to the better team today. Could've been different, Brady hit the post with last kick of the first half at 2-0 down, Dom then missed from about 2 yards at the start of the second half, they could've and maybe should've lost one of their back three for a second yellow following q foul in the box, but ref didn't even give the pen which all the players were waiting for, but like I said at the top, they were way better than us today. They pressed really well first half which meant we struggled to string anything together and when they got the third we fell apart. Yup, they outplayed us in every department, definitely the best team in the league in my view...but what I really admired was how modest they were whenever they scored...
