Powerhouse V Carmel - Postponed

Bit of a strange one as I got no call from the ground but tried calling them only to get a garbled reply from the groundsmen. It worked out that he was in hospital following a stroke! Got to the ground and, after an inspection by the ref, it was agreed the game couldn't go ahead. Feel sorry for Carmel as they all turned up only to be told it was a wasted journey.

Please keep our Groundsmen (Harry) in your prayers.

Woodies 4 SAS 2. A game of 2 halves, we started the brighter and had a couple of great chances through Ben Mitch that we didn't take. SAS came back into the game and could have scored a couple themselves. But with both sets of strikers slightly misfiring against the target the deadlock broke through an own goal with SAS going 1-0 up. 2nd half was a different game and we had a golden 15 minutes from half time and scored 3 from Ieu (2) and Joey Mitch who was awesome down the left wing. SAS gave themselves an outside chance by pulling one back on the break to make it 3-2 but we got a penalty which Andy B duly slotted home. We could have added to the toal in the last 15 minutes with some fresh legs on the pitch but their keeper made 2-3 very good saves. In the end a good win but could have been different but for that 15 minutes in the 2nd half although I thought we controlled the 2nd half.

Goals from Tim x3, Lewis x2, Spring, Nick and Jonty.
Congratulations to Woodies.

Castle Green 2-0 Hartcliffe Saints

Really pleased to get the result today, 11 players unavailable (injury/work/Uni) so this was almost a Castle Green Reseve team!

Both goals in the first half from Nick Gilleece and George Malyckyj.

Could have (should have) had a few in the second half but that's football. Hartcliffe Saints battled valiantly and we wish them well for the season.

Agree with whoever gave you that report! We done really well in the first half but when they scored the third our heads dropped.

Well played counterslip!

Our goal scored by Nathan Randell

Shame about the scoreline as I didn't think we played that badly...! Would be nice to get a win under our belts though, it's been a while. Rock were good value for their win, bossed the midfield mainly which left us struggling a bit on occasions. We were missing a couple of our key players which probably didn't help, but we kept battling to the end, even after going down to 10 men for the last 10 minutes due to an injury and us having used all our subs.

Game was played in a great spirit though, really enjoyable. Thanks Rock!

Kensington 2-1 Thornbury

The Battle of the Baps turned out to be a tightly-fought game as expected, played on a pitch that got muddier and muddier as the game went on. KBFC went ahead after about 10 mins after a lovely through ball to Jay, who provided a neat finish to keep up his good scoring form. Thornbury levelled before half time with a penalty that was probably fair. The winner was also a penalty, finished by Phil B who was due a goal after his hard work up front. Special mention to the Thornbury lads on the sideline who really looked after Jay when he went off with a nasty injury towards the end, that's what this league is all about.

All in all a deserved win I think, great effort from all our guys who kept working right to the end and building on a great start to the season from KBFC. Looking forward to the two league fixtures with Thornbury after Christmas, should be interesting at the top of the division by then. Bring on the cup semis!

A great win for us today against another strong Santos side. First half was very even, Santos probably edged it due to the more chances they had. Came out strong second half with two early goals. Santos then came back at us. Most of the remaining game there was chances at either end. Santos coming close many times! Was the best result we could have hoped for... first clean sheet this season and in 13 competitive games! Cant understand how Santos don't have more points. Every time we play against them they turn up with a strong team including last season... best team we played against however they only came fourth????

Goals from F.Lines, L.Tucker.

Cordle's got it right. Kensington deserved the win and it was a tightly fought game. The pitch was pretty bad, but it was a cracking cup time with both teams getting stuck in and some really good passing football being played at times. Three yellow cards were dished out but it wasn't a nasty game, just very competitive.

Kensington are a very strong side, as I expected, with a lot of pace which we struggled to deal with at times. Going one down early one was a blow but Tushy dispatched the penalty when Cat Hancox was brought down. A shame we were down to 10 men for the last 10 mins (as we'd used both our subs) but I can't comment on the last 10 mins as I was helping Jay back to the changing rooms (I hope his knee is OK). Congrats to KBFC and I'll be very interested to see how they got on in the semis against a Div 1 team because if they play the same squad I reckon they could surprise their opponents. Division 2 is in very good shape this season - with the Div 1 standard rising so has Div 2, which bodes really well for the BCFA.

Yep, we ran away with it in the end. First 5 minutes we started really well, then Suburbs found their feet and competed pretty well until we got the opener. They definitely showed they can play a bit, but couldn't quite get the ball to the right player on the two or three occasions they had a man free in our area. Having said that, we had a few good chances and efforts on goal ourselves, but only managed to put one of them away.

Second half, I think we scored two (first one deflected) in quick succession and it was game over then really.

Nice to meet the Suburbs guys though, who are a nice bunch of lads. Apart from that Nathan Duggan who must be the dirtiest player I've ever seen in any walk of football. Deliberately out-paced me at one point.......

An enjoyable and always hard fought game when it comes to playing racing santos everytime we play them. (i think moody wanted to kick me after the game BigGrin as it could of easily gone the other way today ) a heavy pitch made it hard to play football. changed the formation today which was a brave decision due to the number of goals we have let in recently. needed to tighten up at the back as i always think we can get a goal or 2 regardless who we play.

in the 1st half santos had a few chances to score and were the better side (think it took a while to adjust to the new setup) but was a difficult game to play any flowing football. credit to santos they kept plugging away. 2nd half we flew out of the blocks and started to create more chances fred taking his goal well. managed to get the 2nd goal not long after the 1st which could help us relax.

Racing santos kept battling hard throught the 2nd half but could not find the back of the net. But was delighted with the clean sheet yesterday as we defended well at the back as we soaked up a lot of pressure.

yes it wasnt pretty yesterday but a win is a win and sometimes you have to play ugly football to get results. nice to be in the quarters of the shield hopefully we can get a decent draw (touch wood)
