BSX1 4 SAS 2
A good workout for both sides and still room for improvement for us. Probably didn't help with rolling a squad of 15 on and off but played well in patches and scored a lovely goal only to see it disallowed(correctly) for offside.

Yeah, a good run-out for us last night. Played a BSXI team with all of their galacticos and had 3/4 first team regulars missing ourselves so it was a good test for us and we didn't do too badly. We were completely over-ran for the first 25-30 mins with BSXI showing why they will start the season as favourites - some really lovely football, but we were pants - took us way too long to get out of the blocks, but then we took the lead with a superb header from a corner and after that, started to put pressure on them. Both teams had patches when they were on top. 2 or 3 of their goals were terrible from us. Goal of the game undoubtedly a outstanding solo effort from Dorney. Dribbling it past 3 BSXI defenders effortlessly before slotting it home. I think one of the BSXI defenders still had that in his mind 5 mins later when Dorney was absolutely cleaned out when through on goal. A straight red in a 'proper' game - which no-one could complain about! All in all, it was nice to get a game in against Div 1 opposition and when Luca, Pete and Brady are around we will be looking good.

Yep, a good workout on a bit of a bog of a pitch! I thought SAS would do well this season and they looked decent enough last night considering they weren't at full strength. Nice to grab another goal and to be playing alongside the galacticos. "Ashton will never get in your boat Kirbs. He’s too much of a chirpser." Nathan Redshaw, 16/07/2009.

How's your injury now Nath? You going to be playing in goal this season? "Ashton will never get in your boat Kirbs. He’s too much of a chirpser." Nathan Redshaw, 16/07/2009.

Much better thanks. Doubt I'll play in goal as we've got plenty of other options. Mind you I thought that last season and it still happened. Only BCFA team to beat BSXI 4 times since 12th December 2009.....

How's your injury Ash? Thought you weren't going to play this season to give it a rest? So I'm glad it's obviously better. Top of the league

Yea it's ok thanks, I don't think it will ever be 100% but I'm willing to put my body on the line to play for such a lucrative club. "Ashton will never get in your boat Kirbs. He’s too much of a chirpser." Nathan Redshaw, 16/07/2009.

Thanks mate. Look forward to playing against you sometime, hopefully I'll make the squad for that game. "Ashton will never get in your boat Kirbs. He’s too much of a chirpser." Nathan Redshaw, 16/07/2009.

Ankle's still not good, never did i think that my ankle would still be like this 6 months down the line but it's one of those things i guess! I think it'll be ok for the season though - thanks for asking. I managed 45 minutes on Saturday with no ankle trouble but had to come off due to a shoulder injury which kept me out for yesterday and probably this Saturday too. It's a bit of a bummer at the moment!

I feel your pain. I did mine in on Jan 30th against those ankle haters Santos. It's only been this month that it finally feels more or less back to how it did before that game. I still think it reacts a bit after running around, but I no longer notice it during the day. Only BCFA team to beat BSXI 4 times since 12th December 2009.....

I watched most of the first half and the above appraisal is about right, BS XI all over SAS at the beginning (reminded me of our last game of the season) then SAS comng back into the game once they had a bit of time to play the ball around. Good to see a number of BS XI attributes (good and bad) haven't disappeared over the summer !

Good to see a number of BS XI attributes (good and bad) haven't disappeared over the summer ! Absolutely - BSXI demonstrated that without any doubt they're the best team in the league, and even during the patches where we were slightly dominating, I always had it in my mind that they could step in up whenever they felt like it. Certainly after 25mins at 0-0 it could ahve been 3 or 4 nil if BSXI weren't so determined to score the perfect goal! But once they recovered from the shot of going one down it felt like they got down to business, and it didn't take too long before we were 2-1 down! As Nath says, a beauty of a goal from Mike Dorney and 2 really good displays pre-season...but heard today he may be out for the season with knee trouble...so maybe I'll get some games this season after all! I am, along with the rest of the team I'm sure, really looking forward to getting going again in a weeks' time!

'Absolutely - BSXI demonstrated that without any doubt they're the best team in the league', Hmmm, always love this comment - how do they get to become the the best team in our league? Winning what??? Pah. 'seeing within, changes ones outer vision'
