BSXI 0 - 8 Woodies

Hammered them. They gave it their best shot but were no match for the league champions and crumbled in the face of our skill, physicality and will to win....

*Dave wakes up*

Um, it might have been BSXI 8 - 0 Woodies....

...We were very poor, they were very good. Certainly not a full strength team, but we were all playing in our normal positions (well, apart from the fact that I started). We just weren't playing in them very well. There was a slight end of season feel from our perspective but that's no excuse - we certainly didn't want to lose. In response BSXI played as well as I've ever seen them play. We made it slightly easier for them by basically setting ourselves up in our defensive third for the whole game but that had alot to do with the pressure they were putting on us and the fact we really did struggle to get the ball off them. In the middle of all of that we were about 10 minutes away from going the whole season (excluding GFA) without picking up a booking until Smithy talked himself into a yellow. He said afterwards that it was for smiling or something....

Anyway, here's some excuses:

1 - BSXI had pulled a load of ringers in. The bloke they were calling Stouty actually smiled for much of the game and the guy they called Franco went at least 4 minutes without gobbing off at one point, so they clearly weren't the real Stouty and Franco.

2 - The whole BSXI team should have been sent off when one of their players swore at the ref. Disgusting!

3 - At 5-0 down we were obviously still in it and we knew that the 6th goal would be crucial. BSXI scored it and I'm sure they committed a terrible foul at some point in the build up.

4 - We had Sarge's brother playing, and we're always crap when he's around (despite the fact that he's actually rather good).

5 - No team with Dan Hamer in it should be allowed to compete in a Churches league. He's a bad, bad man. Deliberately trying to break people's legs at every opportunity - and that was just some lass walking her dog before kick off. Terrible.

6 - We won the league, so there.

Nice summary Dave, hard to argue with any of that pure logic. However, I'm not so sure we needed to threads to highlight the severe caning we got last night !!

Apologies for that - didn't notice your thread. Maybe if you had put it in the right forum! Hardly think last night's game qualifies for the 'Football related' forum!

Such a rookie error Eako.

What do you mean? Have you not already begun your preparations for next year?

We did play well last night but will be expecting more resistance next season.

World Cup to look forward to now and then back at it.

Bloody Hell Jim! Your lads were definately good last night, but didn't realise quite how far BSXI had come in the last four years. Will still be supporting England though. Sorry.
