Woodies 3 - 0 'Slip Hillfields 1 - 0 Santos (aet) Woodies secured the double in style. Two goals from Si Rotherham and an Andy B effort secured it. Expecting a tough game from 'Slip and they showed some quality at times but think they arguably gave us a better game in our recent league match, mustering only one shot in the 90 minutes. And yes, they turned up in a minibus with suits. We felt a little under-dressed. Either way, a great end to the season for us (not counting our two remaining games) and we're all chuffed with the leagues first double for a few years. The Shield game was by all accounts a bit of a shocker. I caught most of extra time and it didn't look the best. Apparently the goal came from a free kick awarded when the Santos keeper was adjudged to have taken the ball out of his area when taking a drop kick. A few Santos players weren't to happy, but linesmen were neutral and if its the same keeper they had when we played them on Tuesday then he definately does seem to cut it fine when he takes his kicks. Hmmmm. Just noticed the other thread.

SAS 1 - 5 Widcombe
Really disappointing finish to the season but at 2-1 down we were really bossing this game and the next goal was always going to come from us, but then they got a really lucky 3rd with the ball bobbling over my body when i went to meet the ball at Keith's feet and our heads went down and we let a few sloppy goals in at the end.
Really pleased with how this season has gone though and looking forward to coming back better and stronger next season.
Pip n Jay 5 - 1 Christchurch
Pips staying up in style.

look forward to seeing people on the 30th April :) You're gutted Lenny, how do you think we feel!!!!!! Better to be gutted going up and having this problem than going down. I do however have fond memories of some very dodgy fields where Welton used to play, including one with horses on it which were moved just before kick off! I also remember changing rooms which had very strange things growing in them and one working shower. Please tell me things are different now.....

yeah i suppose i didnt think of it like that my apologies although it is a trek so if youd like to be the home team at frys then ben please be my guest ;) yes things are a lot different i would say bar the westhill slope the pitch at welton has been excellent the past few seasons and its held up well even through the winter period i would say one of the best in the divisions bar the odd dog poo However rumour has it we may be getting kicked off it according to some saturday afternoon teams. although i beg to differ and we do have a good relationship with the council with regards to the pitch so i would expect to hear from them 1st! yeah i believe the place you played before when they were called welton wednesday no longers exists or does just is a field with horses in it Job completed Division 3 BCFA Champions

We've been spoilt with 2 teams at Little Stoke park (8 miles away), 1 at BAWA (10 miles), 2 at Patchway (7 miles) so for us have had little mileage. Next year will be different, although I'm looking forward to visiting new venues despite the mileage! I suppose our fixture will be the BCFA equivalent of Darlington V Torquay.

From what I remember of Welton's ground, the changing rooms are the smallest in the league and the showers hardly ever worked. Or have you been made to move grounds like Widcombe were? Congratulations to Woodies.

yeah the away changing room is small but lets be honest its very rare youll go to a ground where the away changing room is bigger than the home one, showers work saturday afternoon teams use the facilities so there pretty decent not the best in the league but good enough for saturday morning football yeah they probably have improved since you last played up there dan Job completed Division 3 BCFA Champions

Except at 'Fortress Dolphin Pool' where, if adventured into has a veritable warren of large changing rooms each one larger than the one before... Rich L-W (VCF midfielder) disappeared down there just before Christmas and never returned...

Len, this doesn't really tell the whole story does it? Don't think that 'small' is necessarily a fair description of the away changing rooms and from my experience you are not quite right when you use the plural in "showers work". Hoping there has been an improvement - never nice to have an hours drive home in a car with 4 blokes who haven't been able to have a shower!

Pistols 5 Carmel 0
Pistols promoted. It was a very enjoyable game to Ref
Was my 3rd game in 8 days and have had no reaction with the back so am very pleased with the way things have gone. Here's hoping that all will be OK for next season.

Just like the Premiership was a bad time for North East clubs in 2008/09, its not been a good year to be a South Glos BCFA team - Rock, Baps, Sanctuary. This deprived area needs the return of top flight football in 2011...
