Hey
Probably a questions for the likes of my old team mate Ben Stone. Is there a hidden archive of stats for the league before we went digital? Unlike the efficient machine that is TBCFC, Santos have never had an appointed statistician, a role which I have now given myself, so I'm trying to compile at least goals and appearances before 2004/2005.
Also even less likely that the above exists is GFA stats, they have an archive of results but not appearances and goal scorers.
So any super nerds out there kept some kind of massive spreadsheet, I'd love to have it!
Thanks
Kendall

Kendall Unfortunately this is dependent on the individual teams. The league only keeps records of cup/league results - not individual players stats. For Santos pre 2004/05 there was only ever one goalscorer so it should be fairly easy though. I'm not even sure the other players got mentioned on the teamsheet.

As a starter though, does anyone have copies of the final tables for the years preceding the 04/05 season? Were they printed in the handbooks that I think I glimpsed once...? Would be nice to have some sort of archive on the BCFA website? There's a great job for you Crofty with all your spare time

BCFA AGM minutes for each season should record final tables. Having started some history research recently on a football club my own church used to run up until c1970 and knowing how hard it is to gather information, it would be a good idea for the BCFA to record a potted history of the league with final tables asap while it is all reasonably fresh in the memory. I have electronic records from when I started the first BCFA website which was 99 / 00 season. Prior to that I believe they are in a shoebox somewhere in the loft with the manual workings out where I had my girlfriend tallying up who the current leading goalscorer was every 3 weeks so I could post it out to the team managers ! VCF Santos for Div 1 & 3 next season.

Ok Try this file which is the files from 98/99 to the FULLTIME era. Not sure what happened in 03/04 but either I never updated the final table or we cut short the league for some reason (mad cow disease?). File Attachment(s): bcfa.zip (32kb) downloaded 17 time(s).VCF Santos for Div 1 & 3 next season.

Brilliant stuff there Si to see the old stats, but you can tell its old given that Woodies are bottom of the league. That was the season before I joined Woodies as we had just been relegated to Div 2 when I arrived. Some things never change though, Davo up the charts in the leading goalscorer!!!
Also interesting as I have never heard of Spartak Lackham and didn't realise that there was a Welton team prior to the Welstock reincarnation.

It is very interesting to see, a few of the churches league veterans often talk about the St. Matts team of years gone by. Pip n Jay going strong (although 2nd div) back in 2002/3 before my time and fascinated to see Counterslip in previous tables, I've always thought they were formed in the same season I joined pips (04/05). Can anyone enlighten me? http://pipnjayfc.ukffteams.co.uk/ Pip n jay GFA Minor cup winners 2010-11

We re-formed in 2004. My Dad used to play in the 90s! Congratulations to Woodies.

Yep, I think the old team (run by Mr Chappell amongst others) folded in either 2000 or 2001, and then was re-started in 2004. I played a bit in the old version, and I remember one cold morning turning up at Westhill to play the Welton team back then. The pitch was completely frosted, but the Welton guy (who I'm fairly sure still played for them recently - older guy at centre back) had his team running up and down trying to get the pitch to soften up. It didn't work. I played St Matts a couple of times too, and they were very good. Had a player called Flash who was very good, another CM who was really good and a pretty tidy striker (John someone I think). I remember us losing 2-0 to them in a cup game and being quite pleased with ourselves. Spartak Lackham - what a great team name. Only BCFA team to beat BSXI 4 times since 12th December 2009.....

Congratulations on becoming a dad Nathan aswell! I also have become a father for the 1st time only a week and a half ago so a pretty tiring few weeks! The old stats are great, it would be good to hear from any current or past players about the days before full time. My favourite club name at the moment is Welton Wednesday!! http://pipnjayfc.ukffteams.co.uk/ Pip n jay GFA Minor cup winners 2010-11

Also interesting as I have never heard of Spartak Lackham and didn't realise that there was a Welton team prior to the Welstock reincarnation. Lackham were a nightmare. Played at the Agricultural College about half an hour down the M4 - worst pitch in BCFA history. Although it does have two memorable claims to fame: 1 - During one match I played there, there was a brief pause while a hunt ran through the field (not actually on the pitch, but would probablyl have improved the surface). 2 - And this is the big one.... this is the pitch on which Jeff Shelly (AKA The Bald One) scored his only competitive goal. Ever. Bear that in mind if he ever starts going on about his prowess up front! Won't ever let him forget who supplied the through ball either!

A few more points: - The league was cut short due to Mad Cow disease. Assume that this must be the 03/04 season. - The Old St Matts side were an excellent standard for our league at the time, and would still be pretty handy today. Only one player remaining in the league from that side now though. (Centre-back at Sanctuary - sorry, have had a complete blank on his name despite playing against him for about 15 years!). The St Matts striker Nath refers to was John Wiley. Excellent player, but I think had to stop playing due to a serious knee injury. He dislocated the shoulder of one of our lads at Ashton Vale, who also happened to be his brother in law. Subsequent games became very amusing! - Si, there's one season where Paddy is down as leading goalscorer with 7. I've looked at the games and can confirm that I scored more than that in the first 4 games of the season (Sorry, had to be said!) - Kendall, I think I might just be able to remember goals I scored from the info Si provided. Obviously, I'm not obsessive about it or anything though ;-) - My first season in the league was 94/95, though only played a couple of games (and shouldn't have been allowed to). Off the top of my head, here's a list of players who are still around from that time: Me Chappel Sanctuary centre half (really sorry!) Ticks (one or both?) Moody? Sure you played the odd game for Vale? Ralph? Ditto. Hamer (I think, though may have still been in his glory days at that time) Haven't got time for any more, as should probably be working! Please feel free to add other names.

Its also the pitch where I score my only competitive hat-trick and one of the less-gifted players ever to don the Baps strip scored his only goal. Obviously a great footballing surface. Aside from that, the best bit about playing Spartack Lackham (nee Corsham) was their midfield playmaker Phil who was (and still may be) the smiliest, friendliest bloke to play in the league. He seemed to know the names of all the opposition players as well as their families, hobbies....I can only aspire to that kind of bonhomie but I do try.
