We've got Stoke Rangers in the 3rd round next weekend, anyone know any inside information on them for me?

I've got information on both Woodlands opponents and SAS Utd's from previous seasons action. We played both last season enroute to the final.

I think we played then 2 seasons ago we lost 2-0 with a weakened team but we missed 4 or 5 sitters we should have won. That was obviously 2 years ago so not sure how different they are. Nice bunch of lads from what I remember
Has seen 4 lads through his team become Christians in the last 18 months or so - How awesome is that?

Could be a tough game Phil. They lost on penalties last season to the team you beat in the final last season. Sounds like a good match up. I can only suggest you rest your stars this weekend so they can mentally prepare for such a big game. Wink

Well, resting our stars isn't really an option - Wes is suspended following his dismissal last weekend. I'll keep you guessing if anyone else isn't available.....

Stoke Rangers sound like they are a decent outfit. We'll have to play like we have when we beat BSXI during our winning run. Could it be I score another soft penalty to win through to the QF's??!!

Glenside were a solid and committed team, did get a bit nasty at times towards the end of the match but generally they were a good bunch. Obviously PNE (Patchway not Preston) were also pretty useful, although I'm surprised Ken wasn't taken off on a stretcher following a few strong challenges. Good striker, winger and keeper if I seem to remember.

I'm not sure Wes is suspended yet? Why do you think he is?? He'll only be suspended once you get a letter from the gfa outlining which games he becomes suspended.
Congratulations to Woodies.

I agree with Dan on this, have just checked the County handbook, and suspensions, assuming that the punishement is accepted, starts 21 days after the offence was committed. The earliest date Wes would be suspended from would be 10th December. If he decides to appeal it would be later.

Plus they now ask you to supply the games he will miss within the dates they give you. if any of these are cancelled then I'm not sure how they follow that up.
Congratulations to Woodies.

Am not very certain on this, but I think, and only think that if a game 1s postponed the Club Secretary has to notify the County asscociation, and the suspension then moves onto the next game. Have not had to look into this as I am not a club Secretray nor ever will beBigGrin

That's all good and well if you've got an honest secretary. How does the gfa know if this is happening?
Congratulations to Woodies.

Good question.

Have been doing a bit of digging and got the following from the FA dsiciplinary handbook

'If the fixtures that a Player is due to miss change for any reason you must notify your County Association immediately (please see page 27 For the appropriate form). If you are awaiting details of upcoming fixtures, please return the form stating this clearly and send an updated copy once the fixtures are known.'

It also confirms that the suspension starts 21 days after the offence occurred.

I would assume that if the County find out the Club would be in spot of bother.

Wes is definitely not suspended, what Dan and Chris are saying is right. Speak to Jim at BS XI as he is the expert on suspensions Wink. It should kick in a few weeks after the event. So he is fine to play on Saturday.

For some reason this is happening in our league - had a team speak to me last season about a suspension, they automatically stopped him playing for 3 games cos they thought that's what they had to do!
Congratulations to Woodies.

Probably because that used to be the policy, 3 game ban immediately but then they were finding that a month or so later another ban was coming in from the GFA. So we decided we had to go with the GFA system only and extra pressure was put on the refs to ensure they report the reds to the GFA.

No extra pressure on meBigGrin BigGrin Always send them in, as I do not wish to get court for not sending in a report and get a suspension from Somerset.

I know of 2 refs who are currently under SFA investigation and know of another one who got a 3 month and then a 6 month ban for not sending in reports. He did try a way of getting round the 6 month but it did not work.

Thanks gents, that's very useful to know. So there you have it, Wes may not be suspended just yet but is available to play?!

I assumed that he would be suspended straight away. This now makes sense. Convienient that he'll miss the Slip match though (if it doesn't fall victim to the weather).

Good luck to all teams playing over the weekend.
