OK so its still early days with between 6 and 8 league games having been played per team so far but no-one is really setting the world alight with their individual goal scoring exploits. The league Golden Boot stands like this at the moment:

Ben Mitchell (Woodies) 5 from 5
John Spring (Slip) 5 from 8
Darren Fitzgerald (BS XI) 5 from 7
Alex Bakker (CC) 4 from 6
Phil Butterworth (Kensington) 4 from 5
Luca (SAS) 4 from 5
Ali McFarlane (Pips) 4 from 6
Big Bad Brian Russell (Pips) 4 from 6
Dan Wells (BS XI) 4 from 5

Should be an interesting one as the season unfolds.

Surprisingly low scores so far, looking very open.
Only BCFA team to beat BSXI 4 times since 12th December 2009.....

That's correct. You'll get used to how the league works once you've been playing a few years Ian - keep the questions coming in the meantime though Wink

Last time I was involved with a club that had a player in contention was 04/05, Sparky. It's been a long time!

Div 2, this is what I'm talking about

Dan Powell Castle Green - 14 in 7
Jack Williams VCF Santos - 9 in 5
Rob Saunders GVCR - 8 in 8
Jamie Davies Corinthians - 8 in 8

Defenses are obviously weaker in div 2.

Who's Dan Powell? Did he play on saturday?
Congratulations to Woodies.

Firstly Ian, get your own thread, this clearly says div 1. Plus clearly the defences aren't as good, otherwise davo would be playing in div 1 Wink

I'm sure Don Powell is very good, but I'd have my money on Jack Williams. 7 goals in his last 3 games (not all league) and doesn't really look like he's going to stop. He also has the advantage of playing alongside the king of assists Wink.

Provided you don't go claiming any of his?

He never scores against woodies which is part of the reason that he came to play for us!!

Div 1 Golden Boot almost done and dusted:

Ben Mitchell (Woodies) 18 from 15 games
Phil Butterworth (Kensington) 11 from 14 games
John Spring (Slip) 11 from 16 games

Div 2 (otherwise Ian will throw his toys)

Jack Williams (Santos) 24 from 13
Dan Powell (Castle Green) 23 from 17
Jamie Davies (Corinthians) 17 from 16

Div 3

Jason Bates (Grace) 25 from 19
Mitchell Hayward (Suburbs) 22 from 17
Mark Easterbrook (Hayhill) 16 from 17
Dan Hanson (Hartcliffe) 16 from 16

More proof if ever we needed it that goalscorers win you trophies. Div 1 and Div 2's golden boot won by a player in the winning team.

What is quite interesting there is BS XI have no player anywhere near the top of the Golden Boot (Darren top scored with 7) yet they were still challenging at the top.
