Great result sees Slip now as not only title contenders but maybe title favourites?? We are nowhere near title favourites. BSXI and Pips are bigger favourites IMO. I think that slip are aiming for about 2 more wins and then they are safe from relegation :-) Winning the league will just be the icing on the cake. Has seen 4 lads through his team become Christians in the last 18 months or so - How awesome is that?

another result thread which becomes a slip related thread just like last week zzzzzzzzzzzz (cant find a falling asleep smiley) good result at the weekend a battling performance, Pistols will probably feel they they deserved a draw at least (I wouldn't blame them) but about time we had a spot of luck. well reffed by Chris Day as well 6/7 more wins and we should be safe hopefully, hopefully we have turned a corner but we shall see i think we have found the 4 promotion contenders for this season in Div 2 Castle Green, Santos, Bucu, Nailsea, should be an exciting battle up there Job completed Division 3 BCFA Champions

Have to say that I do think its quite funny how football can be the same from the top of the pyramid to the (nearly) bottom though: everybody's watched MotD and seen Hansen et al going on about how the big sides have bogey teams, Arsenal and Bolton etc. But its the same in the BCFA! No disrespect to 'Slip, but they've been beating BSXI for years now, when they really shouldn't have been. This year might be different to be fair as it sounds like the 'Slip have a pretty decent outfit, but even in previous years where they were finshing mid-table they were still taking points off Tickner's boys when the rest of us were struggling. I'm trying to think of reasons for this so have started a list, but think it would be good if others could add to it... 1 - Dan. Most of us have grown to love him despite everything. BSXI simply can't cope. 2 - 'Slip are the antithesis of BSXI. A team made up of mates (rather than blokes one of the Tick's saw playing for a Bristol and District side) and guys who have grown up together (rather than guys who only learn the other's name when they need to borrow some shower gel after the game). (Sorry. That might be slightly harsh on Jim.) 3 - BSXI are put into shock whenever they come up against a side who are actually more gobby than them. 4 - Nathan is Jim Tickner's lovechild!!!!!!!

[quote=cbeds]Thornbury Baptist Church 2 Pip n Jay 3 The best team won but I'm disappointed we didn't hang on to a point. Pips took an early lead, just like last week and played us off the park in stages. They went in 2-0 up at half time and we were struggling. Baps played better in the second half, matching Pips' flowing football with our effort and determination. We pulled one back on the hour with Joe Maiden scoring and then Joe made it 2-2 with about 15 mins left, two fine finishes using his pace to get behind the defence. I really thought we could hang on to a point but with about 6 minutes left we switched off at a corner and it cost us dearly. It would have been harsh if Pips had not won but we at least gave them a scare and made them work for their victory. A bit late in response to saturday's match but we were slightly fortunate to come away with the win, Wes Sousa scroing on 85 mins after a lacklustre 2nd half. Credit is due to Thornbury though they battled back and deservedly equalised, Madien scoring two good goals from through balls racing away from Pips back four. In the 1st we were on form (a bit like in the home match in the previous week) and 2nd we lost our way and allowed the Baps to come back into it. To play any team twice in consecutive weeks can either work in your favour or against you and we learnt a few things, the most important one being - don't let a lead slip! All the best to Thornbury for the rest of the season. http://pipnjayfc.ukffteams.co.uk/ Pip n jay GFA Minor cup winners 2010-11

We just seem to match up well against BSXI (although they did help us this time). I was chatting to Andy Steward during our first game with them this season, and saying that whenever we play them, we seem to look really tight, giving them very little space to play in. When we play SAS though, we often seem to have gaps all over the place and it feels like we're running around chasing shadows most of the game. And don't get me started on Hillfields....... Only BCFA team to beat BSXI 4 times since 12th December 2009.....

Ours is probably Christchurch although it used to be Slip. In the year we won and only lost twice one of them was to Christchurch and we got truly spanked that day. It was something about the way they set the team up, packed the midfield and pressurised us. Probably what Slip did as well. With BS XI Slip have clearly got to them such that Jim has mixed up his formation 2-3 times and it has become a mental thing. Happens at all levels of sport and adds to the rich tapestry of life in sport. And long may it continue (BS XI losing that is )
