Don't know if anyone's seen this show, but it's quite good. It's a quiz that is kind of similar to Family Fortunes in some ways. Basically, they ask 100 people a question and give them 100 seconds to come up with as many answers as they can prior to the show. The contestants then get asked those questions, but unlike Family Fortunes, their aim is to come up with correct answers that as few people as possible have given, with the ultimate being a correct answer that none of the 100 people gave, i.e. a pointless answer.

So, as an example, if the question was to name a character from Friends, you wouldn't say the likes of Phoebe, Ross etc, as they will have scored very highly. You'd want to give the more obscure answers like Gunther, Ursula, Susan etc.

Anyway, at the end of the show, they're left with one team of two people. They are given one final question (they get to choose from three categories), they have a minute to come up with 3 answers, and if any of those 3 answers is a pointless answer, they win the jackpot, which goes up by £1000 a day until someone wins, plus they add £250 for any pointless answers given during the show.

Anyway, the other day the final couple chose cricket as their last question, and they had to name players who had played cricket for England (test match, ODI or T20), but were born outside of England. I managed to get two pointless answers from my 3 guesses. Anyone else fancy a crack at it? I may not remember all the pointless answers, but I can probably remember most of the ones they gave (there are quite a few).

The guy doing it on the show (who basically over-rode his sister on choosing cricket even though she said she knew nothing about it) gave two of his guesses as Ian Bell and Ronnie Bopara. Both of those were wrong (he got Bopara wrong on two counts, name and he was born in England). His third guess was a correct answer, so I won't say it, but it wasn't a pointless answer (4 or 5 people said it I think).

I'll run with Robin Smith, Devon Malcolm and Ben Hollioake. Maybe not the most unobvious selections but quite a way back in the past so might not have been mentioned. How did I do?

The first two were pointless answers, so well done! Ben Hollioake wasn't mentioned, so presumably wasn't. I went for Allan Lamb, Robin Smith and Robert Croft. Smith and Croft were pointless answers. The guy on the programme said Matt Prior for his final answer. Have to confess I didn't realise he wasn't actually English (or born in England).

I've noticed there's a thing about it on the BBC sports website, but I can't access it at work.

Ben Hollioake was born in Australia, cam eover here as a teenager I believe. So does that mean it's a double pointless answer?? Yeah Matt Prior was born in South Africa I believe and came to England as a kid but fortunately lost the accent.

Good one on the Robert Croft answer - presumably you can then include the likes of Simon Jones, Matthew Maynard etc

Not sure I get you with the double pointless answer. His name wasn't mentioned, so that means either he was named by one or more of the 100 people in their survey, or they just didn't mention everyone. Simon Jones was one they gave as a pointless answer, don't remember Maynard being mentioned. Try the link on the BBC site and see if that has more answers.

I watched the show when it was on an thought of Alan Lamb, Robin Smith and Eoin Morgan. I was quite shocked at some of the pointless answers.
