A good win against a tenacious Thornbury outfit.

We began brightly and deservedly led thru big Daz. The Baps were looking dangerous on the break with Maidens pace a constant menace.

Ash hit the post almost immediately in the 2nd half and it wasn't his day when the keeper saved well later. Eventually super sub Andy Young did the necessary and Bally wrapped it up late on.

Back in the mixer. SAS won 2-1 vs pips.

lost 9-1 lets get the excuses out of the way we had a bare 12 about 8 players the corre of the squad missing holiday/ injuries /touring etc. had about 4 players carrying knocks on the pitch. not going to take anything away from santos played well took there chances

i wish i had called the game of today could of easily done that, not my style its what makes me laugh how teams call of games so easy like that when they have a squad of 40 or so players signed on makes a joke of things and a mockery as i think teams call of games far to easily.

never mind life goes on and im sure we will bounce back after this

Know the feeling mate, last week we had 13 (one of whom was not really fit) + an OAP available v Corinthians, but got away with it on the day. Today, I rewarded them and put them back out there again even though all bar 1 of my 19 man squad were available this week.

On the other side of the coin, you get fixtures were you don't get away with it, like when you stuffed us last season at your place.

You put out what you've got, if it works great, if it doesn't, well...that's football.

You'll have better weeks Lenny, chin up, I'm sure you'll put today behind you and kick on, you've got some good lads there.

SAS 2 - 1 Pip n Jay

Goals from JC & Pico Hole

SAS dominated for about 80 mins, but after conceding direct from a corner in windy conditions with about 7 to go to make it 2-1, we really had to cling on as PnJ threw everything at us.

A few points to note:

1) We arrived at the ground at 9.10 and left 4 hours later! Rich made a ridiculously brave save and was rewarded with a dislocated elbow. He got an arm behind the ball just as their striker put everything he had into his shot from 8 yards and the force must've taken the elbow out of its socket (not sure elbows have sockets, but you probably know what I mean!). At this point the heavens opened and Rich had to lie there is the pouring rain for about half an hour waiting for the ambulance. We did what we could to keep him dry, but that did not look like a pleasant half hour for him from where I was standing. Once he was on board the ambulance the sun came out. We're all questioning the quality of Matty's prayer before the game.

2) I scored, Thats my one for the season I expect. Half decent too, by my low standards! I cant remember our other goal, but who cares!

3) Our replacement keeper was Manager Nath, who hasn't donned the gloves for over a year. In the second half he made one of the best saves I've ever seen in amateur football! He also had no trouble with his (usually) troublesome shoulder, so we might have our replacememt keeper lined up.

4) We effectively played the last 20mins with 10 men as we'd made both our subs before half time (Rich, plus our centreback had to leave as he had to work or something), and we all know Josh will never play a full match without getting injured, and he didnt let us down on this front again! After about 70mins he just kind of walked around a bit, but continued to verbally control the shape of the team.

5) Luca's wedding day yesterday (congratulations buddy ). This win was achieved with him, Mike, Steve & Dom - definitely 4 of our better players, which means 2 weeks running we've achieved maximum points with a number of playerts missing - not someting we were able to do last year.

6) 9 points from 3 games, the team is buzzing right now!

Norwich lost their first game of the season in League One 7-1 two years ago, went on to win that league and get promoted to the premiership the season after.

Not to worry Lenny or anyone from Santos but Norwich did sack their manager after that game and brought in a new one from the club that beat them 7-1...

I agree with that, she was a member of the Bath refs society but only for about a year, cannot remember her name though

I seem to remember she had a south African twang in her voice, and that sounds as though it might be her, as Ana Bruni does sound a bit SA.

Have had a few female refs in games I've played over past few years, and all have been excellent.

In fact although results wise my football weekend was awful, (conceded 18 scored 3)all three refs deserved 90's and above for performance ( don't know what we gave them as I don't score them).
